Like most schools, the decision date is the absolute last date. I'd imagine most people find out before then.

If past experience is any indication, admit calls usually start going out a few days before the deadline. So I would expect the majority of calls on the 13th and 14th, or something like that, depending on weekday/weekend and whatnot. I would expect the 15th to be when most people would get the ding or waitlist. Again, just based on personal experience and what happened last year. Good luck!

Per last year's thread it will be a restricted call not a Mich area code. I believe calls start to go out around noon but I would have to check again.

This year's notification date is the 14th, which falls on a Friday (last year was the 15th, also a Friday). They began calling admitted applicants 2 days prior to the notification date (sorry I can't post a link but check Soojin's January 13th blog post) so perhaps they'll do the same this year. I would think admissions would let us know when calls will start going out via the blog

As for me, I'm waiting with bated breath! Good luck to all :)

As I remember, when I got my call last year, it was sometime in the morning on the second day of calls from a 734 area code number.

Hi Everyone,
Does anyone know if there is a way to register recommenders without going through and completing the entire application first? It looks like Ross' application only allows sequential page completing and thus you can't just go in and get your recommenders going while you finish everything else up...or am I missing something here?

Cheers,
T

From the last 2 years, phone calls usually start like 3 days before final announcement. I was pretty lucky last year in that I was the first one on the forum so I didn't have to wait long.

Most stupid app I have ever come across..sequential...!?
I want to leave a feedback on the app...
Navigate to the relevant tab and add your recommenders, save & exit.

Can you please elaborate and give me a more detailed description of the drawbacks of the current app? I can pass on the info to Ad-com to make next year's app more user friendly. I would highly appreciate it.

First of all, thanks for following this up.
Appreciate your gesture...

The app has around 12 sections/tabs...
If I am in the 2nd section and want to navigate to the 8th, then I will have to traverse through all the intermediate sections (sequentially).

FAQ section mentions this drawback. But, I can't understand why validation at the last or last but one section is 'frustrating'. I would prefer random navigation...

-----
Q: Can I skip around pages in the online application or do I have to complete them in order?
A: Applicants cannot skip around the application pages and need to move through them in a linear fashion. Application information is validated on a page-by-page basis rather than validating all information after an applicant attempts to submit their application. This is meant to alleviate the frustration of finding out information was missed or incorrectly entered at the time an applicant is attempting to submit.
----

It is like promoting Tapes in the age of CDs/DVDs/BRDs...

However, Thumbs up to the portal...I liked it very much...
Information is so nicely organized...

I'd make three changes to the application.

1) Allow applicants to freely move around the application forms, like others have mentioned. I tried to get my recommender emails out immediately, because they were the most difficult item to manage. I was able to do it, but it was a pain.

2) After uploading essays, resumes, transcripts, etc, we couldn't view the published document. Every other application I did allowed me to upload a document and then view it to confirm there weren't any problems (mine or technical) with the upload.

3) I took post-grad courses at two different schools without earning a degree. Unfortunately, the application was designed such that I was forced to give a graduation date and a degree date at each school. I actually ended up having to call admissions about this (I didn't call any other school for any reason) and it took us about 10 minutes to work out a solution--basically I said I graduated and gave a degree type, but added a disclaimer in my optional essay.

The first two seem to be the school's choice. As a user, I didn't like it, but that's the way life is sometimes. The third needs to be fixed for next year. It made the school seem disorganized and unprofessional.
