For those who are attending Super Interview Saturday, any interest in getting together during one of our 'mingling' times to swap war stories? Plenty of opportunities to grab beers afterwards as well. Please PM me or chynaxdawl and we'll figure out some sort of meeting place.

thanks, OhDenny! pm us if you guys want to meet up!

Is it this weekend? I'll be here also.

I interviewed yesterday at Ross. I love my time there and everything about the school. The facilities, people, location and everything else are amazing!

My interview went well. I started off a bit slow, it was 845 am and I kind of stubled through my first few sentences, but after that I found my rhythym and everything else went off without a hitch. My interviewer was a 2nd year and he was great. He not only interviewed me, but afterwards we chatted for about 5-10 min and he gave me some advice on what to expect at Ross, how recruiting was, etc. Then, he invited me to sit in on his Valuation class, where I was able to meet his roomate. I found at that they both knew the Ross Ambassador I had been e-mailing so it felt like a very small world!

Anyway, the questions were all stuff I had prepared for. One question (describe a disappointment/failure and how you grew from it) I for some reason overlooked in preparation, BUT this was an essay question I had to answer for another school so I just drew on that and improvised a bit. Also, during one of my answers he interjected with some follow up questions so I knew he was listening.

The wait until Jan is going to be excruciating, but I can't wait!

Good luck to everyone for the SS event.

Any R1 re-applicant/applicant waiting for an interview invite? Are R1 applicants kept on waitlist for R2 interviews?

Can anyone post quick comments on the super saturday?
Super Saturday was a lot of fun. About 75 candidates, all interviewed by 2nd years. We had a tour of the building, (fantastic. You should see the gym.), some light refreshments, and time at the end to mingle and talk to current first and second years, as well as some of the adcom members.

They gave us a pretty hard sell, breaking out an associate dean and their Chief Administrative Officer to talk to us about careers and academics. I was very impressed by the whole ordeal - Ross went up in my estimation by leaps and bounds after the event.

We had a group of 4 GMATClubbers meet and go drinking afterwards, so that was fun as well. Overall, a good time. One interesting tidbit: nearly everyone I spoke to, candidate, 1st or 2nd year, said that their toughest choice was between Ross and Duke or Ross and Kellogg. Truly about 99% of the people I spoke to said this.

Hi Ross applicants! FYI if you're applying to Ross through the Consortium Graduate Study in Management (CGSM), hop over to the Consortium 2012 Forum and Update Your Profile to reflect that you are applying through the Consortium.

It's simple. Just select your school as "Consortium, the", then indicate which specific institution(s) you'll be applying to and the Consortium round you'll be applying in. You can do all of this easily through the handy 'Add to Your Schools' link on the front page of the Consortium 2012 Forum.

We have a special analytics specifically for those candidates applying via Consortium and lots of useful tips for your application and assessment of your candidacy.

Cheers!

I agree with Denny. Admissions and students were all great. Everybody seemed to go out of their way to make us feel comfortable and welcomed. As noted, it was a fairly hard sell but didn't come off as such. All the prospective students had a lot of time to meet and mingle with each other as well, and pretty much everybody seemed great. Overall a very good experience.

My second year interviewer was very friendly and had a lot of feedback about classes and programs that would specifically help me pursue my career goals even though his desired path was different than mine. It was good to see that he had a breadth of knowledge and that he was actively involved in knowing what his classmates were up to.

activity's been low in this thread for a couple weeks now...thought i'd copy/paste soojin's blog entry from today for those curious about when we'll be hearing back about our interviews:

Quote:
We will be wrapping up Round 1 interviews this week. As a reminder, if you didn't get an invitation to interview in this round, it is possible that you may be invited to interview in Round 2.

Following completion of the interviews, AdCom members will be reviewing files in concert with interview reports and making preliminary decisions. Each region will be reviewed by the region manager to make decisions on candidates from their region. At this stage, class composition isn't the focus, but rather, identifying the best candidates from every part of the world. Next, I will review all of the decisions with an eye towards crafting a class with a robust mix of achievements, experiences, perspectives, talents, and career goals. My goal is to assemble the best mix of 500 students for next year's class. I will then send the decision recommendations to the Dean's Office for review and approval over the holidays, and decisions will go out in mid-January. Please note that the Admissions Office will be closed for the holidays beginning the afternoon of December 23 through Monday, January 2.

We wish everyone a happy holiday!

Just a little heads up to whomever moderates the original post with all the spreadsheet information - the Average age can't be correct (46yr old?).

Other than that, good luck to all you Ross applicants!

At this point, I doubt it. Application deadline isn't until the 4th of January. If round 1 is any indication, the application was due October 13 and the first batch of interview invites didn't go out until October 24th, two weeks after the deadline. Therefore, I wouldn't expect any round 2 interview invites until at least mid/late January, but who knows - maybe round 2 will be different than round 1.

Ok.. one more question: The admissions director has written (on her blog) that people who did not get an interview invite in R1 might get an invite in R2. So, if R2 interviews begin mid or late Jan, can some R1 applicants expect a waitlist decision on Jan 13th - hoping to get interviewed in R2?

Not a chance...I had checked with an admissions director if I would have any advantage submitting my app in late November v/s late December. She categorically told me that admissions are not rolling and that submitting an app anytime from the R1 deadline leading up to the R2 deadline would still be considered only for R2. She advised me to work & polish my essays further by taking an additional month and submit the app in late December instead of Nov. Since the process is not rolling, there is no possibility of R2 interviews having started.

Hi everyone! I'm a 2nd year at Ross currently and am happy to answer questions people have as time goes along. I'm going to try and be more active but just send me a PM if you have a specific question.

For those of you who are interested, Ross has cafe chats with current students in a variety of cities. This list will likely be updated some over the next week but there are plenty of people to reach out to and have face-to-face chats over our winter break potentially in your own city.

Take a look here: https://www.bus.umich.edu/Admissions/Mba ... udents.htm

Best of luck to those of you who are waiting and to those who are finishing your applications!
