onechance
Gaurav and Zohaib, I'm from India too and I've been waitlisted. Not to put a dampener on anybody's hopes here, but this year's chances of moving off the waitlist in a positive direction for internationals may be significantly lower than those of last year. Do not forget that the non US co-signor loan program for us has been discontinued. For the same reason, there could be more domestic applicants getting cleared off the waitlist and quicker at that.
Any advice on
a) What can be submitted as an update? That too by the 17th of Feb (that's the deadline for submitting an update for me and possibly, for the rest of you that have been aitlisted). I mean I'm at a stage in my job where I don't really see any big achievement coming up in the next one month; there may be some tid bits of achievements that I can talk about but I'm not sure if they really matter in the universe of MBA admissions. And I work with a start-up; promotions either don't happen too fast or/and as in our case, the hierarchy is such that I can't expect any anytime soon. Can't change my GPA and don't need to change my GMAT. Any advice, folks?
b) When can we realistically expect to move off the waitlist?
Would appreciate an update from anyone on the above.
Buddy, I don't mean to sound like "it's easy for him to say kinda guy" but I would suggest, keep your hopes high. There is always a lot of movement in the wait-list especially at Ross, what with the international loan situation, I am sure many people might drop/change their plans. Try to look at your application as a package and think of potential weaknesses and then work upon them. There are a few things which you can do - look for ideas to start some sort of a club or a sports team (if you are a sportsman) at your workplace, maybe get involved in something on the social front, share the story if any product/team you were working on turned out to be successful in meeting the targets or has been applauded by the customers.
If you haven't already, go through raghu's blog@https://raghuformba.wordpress.com/category/mba/page/2/ He was wait-listed during Round1 and then later accepted during Round2.
One thing to note in the blog (it is also mentioned somehwere in Soojin's blog) is that you should not overwhelm the Admission committee with frequent updates. Approach it diligently, as you would the essays, collect the information and then send it across in one or two waves. All the best!
