Stanford GSB: Class of 2017 - Calling All Applicants!

Hello Guys,

This is my first post on the thread.

I had my interview for round 2 recently. My interviewer was very strict. At the start if the interview only he said that he will keep a track of the time as 45 min for him & 15 min for me to ask questions.
He also told me that he will not ask me about my background but will give me situations as he has to fill a form with certain characteristics.

He didnot even smile in my case.

Is it bad? I think my interview went well and I was able to tell him about me, my life & my work.

You seem to have got an unpleasant interviewer! not an unpleasant interview experience. I wouldn't be much worried about it. Also, note that in the worst case scenario (assuming your interview was indeed 'bad') you still have a pretty good shot at being accepted. Stanford is pretty balanced in their admission approach and will not rule out candidates even if they perform badly on interviews. I have read plenty of successful Stanford admit stories who said they didn't have the best interview experience of their lives and even fumbled on a few questions.

Information security analyst: These analysts monitor and protect an organization’s computer network and systems. Companies prefer to hire those with an MBA. The UT McCombs School of Business and Carnegie Mellon University’s Tepper School of Business are top-notch programs for studying information systems.

As you can see, employers are looking for skilled managers to lead the way in today’s global economy. Business and management degrees can be a powerful driver of confidence and opportunity to achieve those ambitious goals.

Stanford Graduate School of Business no longer has to share the limelight at the top of U.S. News & World Report’s latest ranking of Best Business Schools for 2016. The three-way tie last year between Stanford, Harvard Business School and University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School has been broken, with those schools occupying second and third place, respectively.

Chicago Booth School of Business ranks No. 4, MIT Sloan School of Management takes fifth place, and Northwestern’s Kellogg School of Management ranks No. 6. The top ten is rounded out by UC Berkeley Haas School of Business, Columbia Business School, Dartmouth’s Tuck School of Business, and, coming in at No. 10, UVA Darden School of Business.

The schools making up the top ten remain largely unchanged from last year. NYU Stern School of Business had occupied 10th place in the 2015 ranking, and Darden was at No. 12. NYU Stern is now tied in the No. 11 spot with Michigan Ross School of Business.

The U.S. News rankings are based on a weighted average of several indicators, including overall program quality, peer assessments, recruiter assessments, placement success, starting salary and bonus, average GMAT/GRE score, undergraduate GPA and more.

To compile this year’s rankings, all 464 master’s programs accredited by AACSB International were surveyed in fall 2014 and early 2015. A total of 385 responded, of which 126 provided enough of the data needed to calculate the full-time MBA rankings.

The Day of Reckoning is looming...

Anyone know approximately what time Derrick Bolton calls the East coast Tuesday?

I got a bad feeling about this... Negative thoughts creeping in...

For Round 1 this year it started at 4:30pm EST for East Coast and there were calls as late 7pm EST (a NYC admit) and even 9:30pm EST (a Boston admit). Last round he started early with India in the morning (nighttime India time) and worked his way over to Europe and Africa, and then the Americas moving east to West.

Um, negative thoughts nothing! DB already called you and personally invited you to apply for a full scholarship!! You should be way less nervous than the rest of us. Stay positive, you are a strong candidate and they want you, that is why you have made it this far. Positive energy all around.

If I can offer any advice, it would be to try avoid doing what I did on the day DB calls applicants. Obsessively spending the entire day on this forum/the chatroom did nothing but drive me absolutely insane. When DB called an applicant in CST (and I was in EST), I was so convinced of my rejection that I was in the process of telling my family I didn't get in when my phone rang. Just do anything at all to try to take your mind off of it! Easier said than done, I know

Regardless, congratulations to all on the accomplishment of making it this far, and I hope to meet many of you in the fall!

Thanks! As much as I want to just turn off the phone and not worry about it I don't think thats going to happen... based on prior rounds it looks like the call can come from 10am to 9:40pm EDT so its going to be a long day!

Anyone knows at what time DB usually starts calling the East Coast? ~noon?

Today and tomorrow are going to be looooooooooooooooooooooooooong.

As a West-Coast applicant, it looks like the best-case scenario will be a late Tuesday or early Wednesday call. "looooooooooooooooooooooooooong" is an understatement...

But whether I'm accepted or not, it's been a really nice journey, and I must say GSB's app and interview were by far the most enjoyable.
