I am a 32 years old Indian male with more than 8 years of IT and Entrepreneurial experience(Founder Codearmory.com). I have a good profile and good GMAT and good undergraduate degree( IIT..premier Indian institute).

But what I am scared of is my age. Rumor has it that if you are above 30, Stanford won't admit you, howsoever good your profile is. Anyone has any idea what's the grain of truth in it?

Do you guys know what the recommender questions are for Stanford? I can't find them.

Recommender questions:

Quote:
1. Please describe your relationship to the candidate, and describe the circumstances under which you have known her or him.

2. How is the candidate’s impact on your organization different from that of other well-qualified individuals in
similar roles?

3. What do you like most about the candidate?

4. Please describe the most constructive feedback you have given the candidate. Please also detail the circumstances that caused you to give the feedback.

5. Is there anything else (positive or negative) about the candidate that we should know?

Plus a skills evaluation checkbox grid. I've attached the actual Letter of Reference form.

Just wanted to let you guys know that late recommendations are ok. my recommender for Stanford R1 just submitted hers. she called the school to apologize and make sure they would include it and they said no worries at all and it happens all the time.

also, for HBS (my recommender also sent hers in late for HBS!), Dee posted the following:

"What if my recommender can't meet the application deadline? Will my application be held over into the next decision round?"

Here's what we do:

If an application has two submitted recommendations, we send it out for review by the Admissions Board in the round in which the application arrived. If the third recommendation comes in, we make every attempt to add it to the file. Since the file can be in any number of places and we can't stop the reading flow, we can't promise that the recommendation will be added before review is complete.

Applications with only one submitted recommendation are held up for the next round.

I just turned to 37 on Tuesday. I don't think the rumor will stop me from applying. :-D But I am sure it will be very difficult for older applicants.

Good luck everyone in R1!!!

terry12 is over 30 (sorry to reveal your age, terry :P) and at Stanford right now, so it's not impossible. But you better be VERY GOOD to get in if you're over 30. :)
