This is what the adcom replied to one of my queries, regarding steps going forward, right after I submitted the application. This was last month:
All that you need to do is wait for the next steps in the application process. Interview invitations will be extended from now until approximately late November. Decision notification occurs on December 16. We will be in contact should we have any questions.
I sent an email to the adcom today: question: Has Stanford started sending out the interview invites (R1) for Indian applicants applying under the Reliance Fellowship scheme?
And the reply was: Due to the random nature of our application review process, invitations for interviews are sent anywhere between October and mid December for Round 1. It is impossible to know where your application is during the review process. You shouldn’t read into anything until decision notification because it is still possible to receive an interview invitation and it is possible to be admitted through the waitpool without an interview.
another question... considering that Stanford is the most competitive school and besides the ultra-performant applicants who are sure to get in, how important you think is the recommendation or indication from an alumni, student or connexion from Stanford?
i just heard from my recommender (harvard alumni) that this can hugely play a difference in admission. what do u people think? honestly, if i were the adcom reading the thousand applications, i would give an extra point to those who received an recommendation from someone of my community...
Guys, just got an invite. Less than 6 hours to my inquiry mail........Ironical....... In fact this is an inquiry asking me how much I am willing to travel because there are no alumni in my area. Alternately, they can take a phone interview........ Which one should I opt for?
Also, what do we wear to these interviews ? (I am a college senior......so no idea) Me back to mugging....... end sems start tomorrow
I think remaining reliance fellowship finalists should not hope much but i know that i'll still check my mailbox every half n hour. Its so bad i really wanted to go to Stanford.
Thanks @ northern star......Hopefully you will get your invite early next week I am based in central/east India. @ lost phonton.......congrats......... You are the man......awesome prediction
@Lostphoton was right on target, phodu man .And I agree with Sikandar, feel that they sent out the Reliance Fellowship invites yesterday, so I am moving on from this point onwards. No doubt I am disappointed but then this is not the end of life. Stanford or no Stanford we all will make it big in life and maybe one day make them regret their decision
I think the invites for reliance fellows are not over. In my opinion (which is again speculation) there would be two more batches of invites next week and that's when most of the invites would be over and not before that. Also I think it has got a lot to do with location. Where are you based out of? nobel got it right now coz he is asked whether he would like to do an interview on telephone or to a nearby location while I got it coz there were alums in delhi willing to do it. Maybe they are waiting for alums in other cities to reply before they can send invites.. so guys don't think otherwise.. we will get lots of invites next week....
Cheers! and All the Very Best!! to everyone for interview invites

LOL.....Waiting is the worst part. I just wish they would post something on the admissions blog on their progress.
