hi everyone, my first post but i'm an avid follower, great forum!
Does anyone have any comments on - if you didn't get an invite from HBS, you probably won't get one from GSB ?

Don't think you can say you didn't get an hbs interview yet. Still time. (applied r1 to both)

It's probably much better psychologically that we haven't heard of anyone getting an interview than one or two folks getting one and the rest of us freaking out.

I don't really understand people freaking out about this. In the HBS thread, sure. There's at least a reason to get freaked out: lots of people have gotten interview invites and you have not. It means your chances are reduced even further.

Here, that's just not the case. There hasn't been, to my knowledge, a single instance of a person being invited to interview. That doesn't mean it hasn't happened, but it probably means the bulk of invitations are not out (unlike Harvard).

Just calm down. It's only been TWO WEEKS since the deadline hit. They have a lot of applications to review, and they have eight more weeks to make their decision. They've made no statement like Harvard that they want people to know sooner rather than later if they're getting an invite (there's less benefit for them to do this as they do alumni interviews)

I just logged on to the system and my status is now something along the lines of: "completed... under review."

I haven't logged in for 5 days or so, so it might have updated couple days before.

Crazy to say the least. Can't fathom a person freaking out when there are almost two months to go in the process and people WILL 100% get interview invites a week prior to the decision deadline (as has been the case for the past decade+).

In for Round 1

glad to see you back in the game gkumar. good luck this season.

Don't forget about me quantjock! Are you lovin your CAT course and the weather? After sitting around on the waitlist over the summer, I have reapplied R1.

.....everybody wants to rule the world...........................................................................
8-)

AWEsome. lets go two for two on this one guys.

CAT and leadership labs are a different experience and the school is very keen on that and dual degrees. I would mention one in your essays IF IT FITS within your scope (ie, dont drop it in artificially - our adcoms are too good).

everything otherwise is great too, including the weather. its like "summer time and the livin' is easy".

@ Jeanette
Do students currently enrolled in the MBA program i.e. class of '11, class of '12 have a say in the class of '13? By "say", I mean do they review applications? Do they conduct interviews? Do they make recommendations? Do they have any level of involvement?

I'm not sure about reviewing applications, but I don't think so. They don't conduct interviews. I'm sure they could make a recommendation, but unless they know you really well and the adcomms have a reason to particularly value it, I doubt it'll help much.

But I guess a better question is why it particularly matters to you unless you have a current student who you want to pump for a rec.

I can confirm this.
