Hey folks, let me share my experience as this forum has helped to alleviate my anxiety while waiting for the blessed interview invite:

Brazilian, M, 28, 720, lived in Germany, UK, Canada & now in Switzerland. Scientific/technical background looking for opportunities in general management, marketing & social sector. Some relevant international awards and EC. Nearly 5y of WE.

HBS: interview invite on October 15th;
ST: application completed from my side on 29/09; last ref letter submitted on 05/10 - interview invite on 28/10.

Fingers crossed everyone!

Congratulations! Another international invite. I think it's pretty clear there's at least some trend toward Stanford giving international invitations earlier than domestic. It may not be 100%, but that seems to be a definite trend. It also makes intuitive sense as a school who doesn't have preplanned international dates (ala Harvard) and likely doesn't have alumni in every city around the world will want to give international students a bit more time in case there's an issue.

I don't know if you can say it's "pretty clear". People in these forums have a tendency to try to ascribe causal relationships on the basis of little evidence when things are actually random (which doesn't help people's anxiety levels).

Read the article in the Times about a recent book (or read the book):

Add me in for R1, and got an off-campus interview invite today. I'm a little shocked actually because I have yet to get interview invites to Wharton or Booth.

Wow, that's great news indeed! Congratz. Gives me a little bit of hope since I too have a low GPA... (but then again, maybe you just have a stellar story/profile)

hey jeanette, is it like 2 people? i don't think that makes a trend ... (just playing devil's advocate. pessimism could be a good thing)

You guys should also read these books on randomness:
