Thanks. My GPA is what it is, all I did was explain my stupidity at 17 and go from there. I guess my differentiator is that its been more than 6 years since I graduated, and I work in a pretty analytical function and have 2.5 years of management experience.

The entire MBA process makes people crazy, and I honestly wish there was more disclosure than there is right now, but alas thats life.

That's awesome dude. I'm in a similar boat with regard to your stats and hopefully it is an indication that Stanford will be open to interviewing those without super-stellar GPAs. At the same time though I can't imagine them letting in more than one or two folks with sub-3.0 GPAs, based on their median GPA range.... which bodes poorly for those of us with lower GPAs that haven't gotten an invite :P

Add me in for R1, and got an off-campus interview invite today. I'm a little shocked actually because I have yet to get interview invites to Wharton or Booth.

Wow, that's great news indeed! Congratz. Gives me a little bit of hope since I too have a low GPA... (but then again, maybe you just have a stellar story/profile)

this was in an email I got after submitting my app for R1:

"Interviews are offered by invitation only. Invitations for interviews will be sent up until the week prior to the decision date for the round in which you applied. We will invite you via email, and you and your alumni interviewer will schedule a mutually convenient date and time to meet. We hope to interview between 800 and 1,200 applicants this year, and offer admission to between 400 and 500 candidates. We expect to interview all candidates admitted to the MBA Program. "

Hi all,

I've followed this post and I know that a larger number of invitations are expected around mid-November (from past years)...but while I know speculation is futile, I can't help but wonder how Stanford is considering interviews compared to Harvard/Wharton.

We have speculated on the Harvard and Wharton threads how each school releases interviews (and did not reach a "conclusion", clearly). To me, though, Stanford's invitations are the most difficult to gauge - and painful because it seems as if each day some come in. I honestly would rather they come in waves on specified days - instead I get hopeful every time an email comes in for the rest of the month!

I know people say that you can get invited close to the deadline and still be accepted, but I wonder if anyone has heard (i.e. from alumni, etc.) of how the interviews are evaluated. Sandy on the BW Forum has mentioned that they actually go through the apps in detail to try to put together a coherent class - and that is why they trickle. I'm sure they must sort the apps into certain categories vs. no particular order.

I'm not asking to open a discussion based on speculation..but whether someone may actually have heard of how this is done. Again, just satisfying the painful curiosity as I wait for an email.

Got invited today! Very exciting day, to say the least. After hearing nothing for so long, I got invites from Booth, IESE and Stanford within 20 minutes of each other. :) I feel a lot better, I was really down this weekend..

I think there's a way to do that in the settings. Mine is defaulted to send e-mail alerts for threads that I've posted in that have new posts.

**EDIT**
there's a checkbox when you reply where you can set it to "Notify me when a reply is posted".

I just got a promotion at work, what is the best way to let GSB know? Should I just call them? (I applied round 1 and have not received an interview invite yet).

I really don't think Stanford is going to care one way or the other at this point. They will look at your record over the last several years, just like every other candidate. Getting a promotion now is not going to differentiate you in any way. I assume you already talked about progress/achievement at work in your essays, and that's what they want.
