I am also 29 and also worried that I am too old for GSB. Already dinged by HBS.
My stats: 3.9 Harvard GPA, Summa Cum Laude, 4.0 Graduate GPA; 740 GMAT; 800/800 GRE. Have those of us over 28 just missed our chance by virtue of age?
Throw me into the old age club as well. I just turned 32 and where I feel I am in a MUCH better place to actually get more out of the education now than I was 5 years ago I knew that I was at an age disadvantage. For my stats - 32 yo white male, work in corporate finance/business analysis for a big brand and own a martial arts school, 700gmat, 3.8gpa and played a division 1 sport. Lots of ecs and have a 1 year old son.
Denied from HBS and Wharton, but invites from Chicago & London (self initiated at Tuck). Not particularly hopeful for Stanford, but I think my essays relfected a better fit for that school than say HBS, bc of the smaller class size. But who knows. If I was to guess, more work experience would be more valued at smaller schools (classes under 500 students), by virtue of each individual student making up a greater % of the class population.
