Fellow waitlisters, how are you guys holding up? It feels bittersweet because there are only two outcomes from here: eventual rejection or acceptance.
The former kind of sucks because it means that your rejection was dragged out for an additional two months. The latter also kind of sucks because you have to live with the knowledge that they didn't quite like you as much as the other folks they accepted.
Am I looking at this completely the wrong way?
Yes! If they ultimately reject you, it means they thought you were close to a good fit - which you should feel pretty damn good about.
If they accept you - it doesn't matter if you were their best or worst admit - they still think you are good enough to be a part of their class. More importantly, noone cares what rank you entered. You will graduate with a Stanford degree and get the exact same experience as everyone else.
In other words - you should be positive and feel honored in both cases. So smile
