There's a couple of well-known gatekeepers in Mexico (Daniel Servitje, Federico Antoni, etc.) its rumored that if you get a support letter from one of them you'll get in (they write one or two a year). This might explain it although we will never be sure

Does someone know if I can apply for R2 MSx if I'm rejected now for R1 MBA? I haven't received an invite yet, and I'm one of those profiles that are kind of in the middle between the two programs.

No idea, but I'd check with their admissions team, but since they are two different degrees maybe it could work.

If the admin com likes you, but you have a profile that would fit more with the MSx they will tell you so. That si why it is advised to apply to programs that offer both in case they push you to the other program. Big names weight more at HBS than other programs .

They say that, but they do take notice if its the right people (think trustees and really renowned alumni), I've heard of a couple of gatekeepers and know people who have gotten their letters and have then gotten into hbs and Stanford
