I guess it is the waiting game. Has anyone put deposits on other schools but are waiting on a decision from UT and plan on chalking the deposit up for a loss?

I paid a deposit the morning of March 5th....and got the UT admit call about an hour later. FAIL.

Oh wow... that is awful. Maybe you could have called and canceled it? Who knows the school might have deposited it in spite.

I have already put down a deposit at UCLA, I have pulled all remaining applications (except UT) and declined all other offers of admission. If UT comes through I am not 100% sure that I will take it, though originally I thought I might. I really love southern California and UTs admissions people were pretty darn rude when I told them I needed an answer soon...

I have to ask, what's the draw to UT dcdevil? You seem to like the SoCal life, presumably want to work there post grad, and got into the best school in SoCal. Those are all the reasons that led me to Texas v. an east coast school. I live in the state, want to stay in the state, and it's the best school in the state.

Status quo. Still waitlisted since mid-march after applying R2. Putting in a depost to another program by Friday, but also hoping (if you can call it that) to chalk it up as a loss.

Cost of living and quality of life in Austin VS Los Angeles for us. Plus, I have family there. But you do bring up a good point....it really does not make sense for me professionally.

applied 03/12, interviewed 03/26, and haven't heard nada. There were about 25 other candidates interviewing then and this forum has been quiet... I'm hoping to hear something by Friday otherwise I have to pay another deposit.

I am in the same situation as you. Any specific reason why you were interested in Texas over UCLA.

Honestly, I like them both equally--their programs are fairly similar. I like the cost of living and quality of life in Texas...so we'll see. Austin is a small livable city, and LA is, well, its LA. The traffic is awful, its crowded, and its expensive.

To those who have heard back, was it via email, phone call, or did you have to check the status online?

Admits have either received a call or an email instructing them to call (mine was the latter). Dings and waitlists have come (almost always) without notice via online status check, though I think a couple of waitlists were notified via email that their status had changed.

anyone expecting any feedback today? I called the admissions ofice the other day and the person said we could expect "some activity between May 15 and Jun 15" for those of us who are waitlisted.

May 15th is probably the earliest anyone will hear anything, but I could be wrong.

Registration for Orientation begins on May 10th so I imagine those dates are correct as they will start to see how the class is filling out. Hope it's sooner rather than later for those of you waiting.
