ut is my first choice all the way!! I just applied for the MPA program this year I am so nervous I have a low GMAT b/c I haven't had the time to take a review course or study it seems.
I got my application in on the 28th of Nov. im a accounting undergrad from UNT denton, TX I have volunteer work and extracurriculars GPA is a 3.9 gmat is 580 550 1st time what kind of chance if at all do you think I have? UT is my first choice!
I'm visiting McCombs this Friday for the info session?
Anyone else going, want to meet up? I'm coming from CA, and have a 6:30 flight back to Orange County but will be there thursday night and most of Friday?
If anyone knows any students that could spare 30 minutes, I'd love to buy them lunch / coffee to chat about the McCombs experience.

ut2012, just noticed you interviewed on 11/20. were you on campus? did you do the lunch/info session? we were probably there at the same time.
I was on campus and went to the lunch / info session. Did you interview with Laura by any chance?

I did - I really liked her too - she was super sweet. I think I was the only woman to interview that day, so you probably saw me - though I think there were some other girls who participated in the lunch / info session. The weather was dreadful that day and I *still* really liked the campus.
Waitlisted, which is even more frustrating. This means I now have to work on Darden, Duke, and SMU applications to be sure I get in somewhere. I do have some regrets about interviewing on campus. I probably should have done a visit and interviewed here in Dallas. What's another $750 in application fees and another 100 hours of time?
I got an email notifying me that my status changed online. I thought the worst at that point. I logged in to find out that I was waitlisted, which isn't ideal, but I'll take that over a ding any day. The other mistake that I think I made was listing the other programs that I was applying to, which I believe might have backfired. Lessons learned for round 2 applications. I really was hoping to get an admit to Texas after my campus visit.

JCT -- sorry to hear about the waitlist. That is really surprising to me, especially since you're an in-state resident. It also has me a little concerned for the rest of us who haven't heard yet. Here's to better luck with the other apps.

Sorry to hear. I think McCombs rejected some people with high stats last year as well. My speculation is that if McCombs thinks you are using them as a back up (they probably did if you listed Wharton, Booth and HBS as the other schools you are applying for), they might reject you rather lowering their yield. I think if you show interest while you are on waitlist, you'll have a good chance of getting off of it.
Yes, I am looking to get admited in the MPA program it is very tough to beat! It's my first choice. After speaking with the MPA advisor, I plan on retaking the GMAT early January for my 3rd attempt. I barely have any prior work experience as I am relatively younge, 21, I am getting an internship this summer though.
Since some calls went out last Friday and none have gone out this week (that I know of), I'm thinking (hoping) the adcom is going to make calls tomorrow. My guess is they are making decisions M-Th this week and then are going call those admitted tomorrow. The wait is KILLING me though...
