Re-posting this question here since I accidentally put it in the Admitted thread:
Did any of you guys do the Texas MBA Day program that they offer? Did you think it's a much better option than a regular day class visit?
I'm trying to weigh the options for visiting. I could only get into the MBA Day on Jan 29th when I registered a little before the holidays. I'm praying I will get an interview invite soon, and if I do, I'd like to visit and do the interview on campus. But schedule-wise it would work better for me to visit earlier, which would limit me to a class visit.
I did the MBA day program in Austin (October) and I attended an information session in Dallas (December after application was submitted). I heard the same information in both places: presentation by the dean, info on plus program, and info on career development. At MBA day you eat lunch with current students and take a tour. At the information session you have the chance to speak to alumni. I never visited a class, but wish I did. Maybe you can knock out a class visit the day before your interview.
From my experience Texas wants people to show strong commitment. Imagine if you can go into your interview and say "this is my second time here, I came for MBA day to get an early feel for the school and now I am here again to interview." Of course this requires time and monetary commitment.
Side note: After my MBA Day, I filled out a paper that was added to my file.
