For mine I used an experience from an internship I did a few years back. The place where I was working (as a carpenter) had an extremely demanding schedule and the other carpenters weren't willing to help me so I had to use their negative comments (I took a lot of crap as the intern, basically) to make myself stronger at what I was doing.

I transistioned from describing the criticism to how I used it at that moment in time to how it applies to who I am today because of the experience.

If I recall I went through a ton of rewrites for that one so good luck.

On my way to Hanover for the interview tomorrow. The fall colors outside look amazing.

I can't wait to get to campus and check it out. While I've never lived in a small town, I kinda like the idea of living there for 2 years. Since I'm spending a night there, I think I'll get a fair idea whether it is really for me.

I believe a few posts back someone reported having an adcom initiated interview... but that's the only one I've heard of so far.

Just received an interview call from Tuck. Haven't interviewed with them before. Thinking of going to Hanover.

Profile:

Male/Indian/730/32 years

Engineer cum Entrepreneur: Undergraduate IIT(Indian Institute of Technology). Graduated First division with honors
Work ex: 8 years/IT(5 years in US..all startup silicon valley experience) Programmer/Sales/Manager
Founded Codearmory.com.
Lots of very good extracurriculars.(journalism, technology column editors, CRY, Democracy Connect etc etc).

Hey wooster..you in US or India?

Just trying to understand whether the adcom initiated interviews have started for non-US based applicants..

Interview was pretty standard. Very conversational as everyone over here has said. It was with a second year.

Questions included:
1. Walk me through your resume
2. Why MBA? I spoke about me ST/LT goals here
3. Why Tuck?
4. Teamwork example
5. What would you change about the place where you work?
6. Biggest achievement outside of work (I think I had spoken too much about work and they wanted a different aspect)
7. Questions for me

If I think of anything else, I'll post it over here. Overall, I really liked the school. I had a class visit this morning and I definitely found the class very interesting. I'm gonna have to run now or I'll hit some major traffic on the way back.

If anyone has any specific questions, please post and I'll try to answer them

Hi Madz

I am an Indian but settled in US for the last 5 years. I received an adcom initiated interview.

Yellowjacket

These were pretty much the questions asked to me by my interviewer. I had a phone interview. So I guess these questions are standard. BTW, my interview went around 50 minutes.

R1 app - Submitted!!

How does the scholarship app work? Is it needs based? I assumed it was because it asks for a lot of financial info.

I know I could find out my answer on the Tuck website, but I don't think I could stand to read another document right now.

Thanks!

From what I can gather, you fill out the same form for needs and merit based scholarships. The essays are the thing primarily used for the merit scholarship...For needs based, you also have to fill out the FAFSA sometime in the spring.

hope this helps,
ac.

Is it going to be awful if one of my essays runs into 700-750 words for Tuck? They say there are no limits, but the average is 500? I'm having a really difficult time condensing goals, as well as why MBA and why Tuck all into 500.

Are the rest of them closer to 500? I think for Tuck, the longest I had was 650 (it ws the goals essay) and the rest were around 575 or so...

I went with this guy's advice: Link

My longest Tuck essay was 599 I think.

Thanks AC. Since I'd be lucky to get any scholarship money at a lesser ranked school, I'm not sure it's worth my time and effort to fill out the Tuck form..... :|

I've still got a week (I think), so I'll think about it.
