I'm surprised you haven't faired better with the 3.97 and two 700+ GMAT scores.

Could you share your WE? Essays strong?

Thanks!

Hey all,

Did anyone's i/v email from UCLA ([email protected]) go to the SPAM folder, specially for those using GMAIL? I delete the contents of my SPAM folder without checking it. A friend of mine who just got a call had his in the SPAM folder. Is there a way we can find out about this? The application status seems to have no i/v specific message?! Any pointers?

Had to check my spam folder again after reading this. Still nothing but Viagra ads...

Sorry to have taken so long to respond to this.

I thought my essays were strong, but then again, they were my essays. I had them reviewed by Sloan and Wharton Alumni who both seemed confident I would at least receive interviews.

26 US male...3.5 years full-time WE in electronics product development/product planning at family owned firmed pre-UG degree, summered at a hedge fund, then 1.5 years interning at buy-side equity research (several promotions). In other words, my WE is a little odd, highly subjective, and apparently not very well received.

No worries about the late reply.

With your GMAT and GPA and your solid WE that you just mentioned, you must have done something wrong so I would take a hard look at your essays and get some more feedback (from friends that were accepted maybe and check out what they wrote).

I'm really shocked that you haven't gotten any interviews but you are still extremely young at 26 so no worries at all about reapplying in the future.

What was your creative video?
My source of information is great investigate work over the trends of previous years, my own interactions with admissions offices and staff and quite a few close friends and relatives at many of these respective universities.
There are so many misconceptions (like getting an interview invite early is better than a later one) out there.
The bottom line is that there is still another solid week of invites that will go out of UCLA next week. After next week, your chances are slim BUT you can still get waitlisted remember without an interview invitation.

I made a video about my volunteer work for animal welfare showing real life images with a voiceover. I also tied it in to my profession showing how I got stray animals adopted using social media. (I work in the digital media industry)
The main weakness in my app would be my undergrad grades. But I have explained that in the optional essay. Plus my grades improved significantly in the last two years of my degree.
Anyways, I sure hope you are right. All the best to everyone else waiting too.

You also have to realize that this year was the toughest year to apply in over a decade with most schools getting record # of applications.

You still have great hope. International applicant invitations usually go out later and you have at least another solid week of invitations left at UCLA before you should start worrying.

No responses from anywhere yet. :| Waiting for Kellogg and Columbia too.
Applied to Berkeley in R3 so that will take some time.

I should add I am a M 26 applicant from India, so that probably doesn't help much.

You should get some feedback from any of the schools you applied to that do that.

Also, obviously as an international applicant, applying R1 is always recommended big time.

Hmmm....was searching for when Anderson days will be this year (knock on wood).

Turned out I found a link to A-Days II 2010....Looks like it will be April 10-11. https://www.anderson.ucla.edu/x21819.xml

I'm just blessed to have the cal admit. I would be over the moon to get one from UCLA too and be able to make that decision!! :-D I think I would lean to Haas because more of my target companies seem to have an active recruiting presence there, and I like the vibe, but I have some strong personal pulls to staying in LA. I'd definitely have a tough, but enviable decision to make =)

You are definitely getting into UCLA with a Cal admit.

Probably depends on where you want to end up (if back in LA then UCLA probably makes more sense).

Best of luck on your extremely enviable decision! :)

Theres really not many active posters in this UCLA thread. would this reflect interest in the school?
basically im wondering is my chances of getting in are better given the lack of participation on this thread

Compared to what schools?

UCLA is clearly the 3rd best MBA in the state of California (behind Stanford and Cal) which is no joke.

UCLA is also a legit top 15 MBA. Will you have less competition than a Wharton? Sure. But getting into UCLA is no joke.

I think the # of applicants to Anderson is way down this year.
All due respect, Anderson's ranking went down by couple spots last year.
Anderson was also practically begging people to apply for round 3.
This thread only has less than 30,000 views, which is significantly less than other comparable schools.

Well, Anderson is the only hope I still got, so I'm just trying to stay positive.

Anderson is a GREAT school, and getting in is hard for sure.

Good luck to all the GC participants. 3/31 is a long way though.

I know 100% that Anderson's applications are projected at a higher # than last year (and potentially record # of apps) and we'll obviously know when the #'s are released later on but yeah.

The bit about "begging" people to apply R3 is inaccurate IMO as well. UCLA runs one of the best admissions processes from MJShores twitter updates, to their email responses, to their class visits scheduling online, to their admissions blog...etc. The fact that they advocate R3 applications also has more to do with the fact that they don't weigh R1 and R2 that much greater than R3 like most other top schools.

I wasn't knocking UCLA anything. it was just an observation I'm hoping is correct since UCLA is one of my last hopes of going to B school this year!
