The way I see it, you gotta do the optional unless all the facets of your personality/"uniqueness" are covered in the first two essays!
my Big concern with #Optional is it has to show something people "don't know about you" and that concerns me a bit - I mean say I organized a conference, but spoke about it in #1/#2, then I cannot mention it in the optional?
Yeah, that was kinda my thought process. Everything truly significant was already covered in pretty good detail in my resume, essays, and work experience--I didn't see a point in putting together something meaningless just to showcase my video editing skills, or to say something cutesy about my upbringing or some minor obstacle I overcame.
Or maybe it was just laziness on my part, seeing how I had R1 apps due on Oct 6 and Oct 13 before submitting for UCLA on Oct 20, and I was burnt out by all the effort I put into Stanford and Haas.
