Still can't log in. I don't know what's going on, but hope that something is getting updated with regards to the final decision and that it's positive. Keeping my toes crossed!

Here's the response from UCLA

"As long as you self report the date of the exam and score given to you at that time, the application will be complete. However, make sure you get the final score report to us via GMAC, or at the end of the application process your application will be lacking. Please feel free to contact me if you have further questions or concerns."

Can someone confirm if self-reported scores are good enough or if Anderson needs official scores from Pearson. The instructions on their website are confusing.

"Applicants are required to take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT). Your application cannot be considered complete without your test scores (official or self-reported). Official GMAT score reports must be sent directly to us electronically from Pearson VUE."

Based on how it reads, self-reported should be good. It probably wouldn't hurt to get into your GMAT account and pay the $28 to get the official report sent though--that would be the safe thing to do. They may also accept a scanned copy of your official printed score report--I had one school ask me for that.

Or just call the admissions office and ask someone what else you need for your file. That would be a better answer than asking a bunch of online strangers who are probably speculating just as much as you are.

I couldn't log in either, then I contacted technical support and they fixed the problem for me. May want to try contacting them if you haven't already.

My login was acting up but now it's working again. I'd second the recommendation to hit up the tech support. Most likely nothing in changing in your apps though since the ucla offices are all closed till next week.

Wasn't able to log in yesterday but got in this morning. No status changes though since they're still closed for holidays.

For those applying to both Anderson and Haas, did you list Haas under the "Have you ever applied for graduate status at another UC campus?" question on the Anderson application? I'm not sure if they're talking about an application for a previous academic year, or if applying to both programs concurrently would require a "yes" response.

I put that I'm applying to Haas this year and listed the date of the R1 deadline. I'm pretty sure it's just for statistical purposes for the UC system since they didn't ask what private or non-UC schools I was applying to...I can't see them holding that against you in any way.

Haas's application asks you to list all other programs applied for this year, so I figured that was what Anderson was going for.

It's not worth worrying about too much, seeing how everyone's list of potential schools will change--on my Haas app I listed USC which I'm not applying to, and didn't list Kellogg which I later decided to apply to.

Hi guys, gunning for the second round. Everything done, except the optional essay. For the optional essay, I am wondering what the dress code should be. I mean if you just want to stand in front of camera and record your answer, should you be wearing a suit? Or will that be too much.

@ for optional Essay

Though I may not be the right candidate to judge because I haven't got the admission yet but here is my take on it.

1. Optional is optional. I wrote an essay in optional essay. I got an I/V.

2. Adcom likes diversity of thought and experience(IMHO). If suit is required for the video then you should!

but if you are resident Dj of a club then putting on a suit .... may not be apt. Show a unique side that you may have. I remember UCLA has a professional poker player in the class . Hope you get the drift.

Hi guys,
After exploring UCLA web site, I seem to be unable to find an option to connect with current students. Does anyone here know how we could get in touch with current students from UCLA?

Thanks!

Pick some clubs that interest you--consulting, finance, entrepreneurship, ethnicity, whatever--and look for their websites off the Anderson main page. Most will have names and email addresses for the club prez/VP or will have info capture pages that you can fill out.

Emont,
Very helpful information. Started contacting members of some clubs.
Thanks & kudos!

I passed on the optional essay, but I think it depends--a suit is probably good if you're doing a boardroom-style presentation, but not if you're juggling torches. Or you could also use videos or a picture slideshow from the past, something that illustrate your positioning, then just do a voiceover.

I can't decide on the optional. I read under some consultant's blog that you reallyneed to response and now i'm confused.

The way I see it, you gotta do the optional unless all the facets of your personality/"uniqueness" are covered in the first two essays!
my Big concern with #Optional is it has to show something people "don't know about you" and that concerns me a bit - I mean say I organized a conference, but spoke about it in #1/#2, then I cannot mention it in the optional?
