A quick question, folks. The waitlisted candidates have only two options in terms of recommended updates. 1) Improved GMAT and 2) New Grades/Transcripts.
Since I graduated many years ago, the only option available to me as opposed to "do nothing" is to retake GMAT. My GMAT is 710 (Q-85th;V-89th;Overall-93rd). In the light of my engineering consulting background and a GPA of 3.3 UG and 3.5 G, is it worth retaking GMAT and hopefully increasing it by 30 pts or so?
I can't decide if my GMAT, which falls right close to the school average, is a factor or not in the waitlist decision. I am stuck on the fence about this. Any suggestions?
I know it's counterintuitive to "do nothing" but I really think you should hold tight. Your GMAT score is not the issue..quant score is strong, GPA and engingeering background solid - I don't think you have much to gain from retaking. I think that option is best for liberal arts/humanities majors/professionals who may not have taken as many math/stats classes, or didn't do so well on the quant section, who need to demonstrate they can handle the coursework. 85th percentile, IMO, is perfectly acceptable..I got WL with a 740 so take that for what you will..wish I could resubmit career essay as I've clarified what I want to do in the three long months since submitting!
