To any R1 or R2 waitlisted applicants who have provided updates to admissions - how much did you write per update?
I drafted a response for updating my application, and was curious if it’s more common to write a quick 2 sentences or a full blown 5 paragraph essay.

I was waitlisted in Round 1 on 8 December. Received the feedback from the school during first week of January and they suggested me no specific actions but to wait.
I sent only 1 application update during the waiting period (around 10th February). I explained the updates and contextualized how those updates affected my profile strength. I also reiterated my interest for the program. I wrote the entire update in a short essay format (around 200-250 words) as that allowed me to add more colors to the story.
I personally feel that writing in an essay format is better as it allows more insights into your personality and provides you a chance to humanize your voice under the stress of the waiting period.
I received the admission offer along with Round 2 results.
