Ok, I am bored and desperate. So I need some analysis on just how many invites are left with less than 2 weeks to go.
Based on the assumption that the posters on this website is more proactive than the average Wharton applicatns (this tends to make sense since I have seen some research on how the people who spend time on messeage boards or keep blogs are the ones with more structured and refined goals and ambitions) or at least similarly proactive as compared to the rest of pool, I learned that exactly 50% of the applicants received invites in the first round.
The 50% mark sounds very, very tempting and accurate because when I applied in 2004, the admission officer did mention something along the line of this finding.
50% gets invite, 40% of the invited gets in, with 10% on the waiting list. The acceptance rate is close to 22% or so.
Back then, the acceptance rate for all the rounds was 17%, and usually the pool in the first round is much stronger than other rounds, incluiding the round 2.
Thus, given this finding, it may be safe to assume that close to 35~40% of the second round applicants would eventually receive invites.
Currently, we have 8 invites and 31 waiting.
So again, we have 8/39 or 40 students, translating to approximately 20% invitation ratio.
In other words, we have 15~20% more invitations to go out before the interview invitation deadline.
Again, in other words, we are only a half way done here, fellas!
Oh, by the way, we can all talk about selectiong bias, pool discrepancy, variables ratio, and other statistics related jargon in refuting my analysis (if you want to call that), but I am pretty confident that we have at least 30~40% invitations left in the Wharton adcom pocket.
Cheers
