No, no dont lose your hope as yet.

Last time, I received invitation on the second to last day.

Later I found that there was a handful of students who received invitation in the last three days.

Ditto for the first round this year.

The fact that it has been awfully quiet in both S2s board and businessweek board tells us that my reasoning is correct.

Panic when you dont have an invitation by Feb 20th.

What's the consensus on interviewing on-campus with adcom versus alumni interviews? I visited Wharton back in October (sat in on a class, toured the facilities, etc.) so I am leaning towards selecting an alumni interview, but I wonder if Wharton is yield conscious enough to warrant another trip out there...

Thoughts/advice?

just back after a hectic day at work...

Thanks ryguy904.
Pandeyrav, I hope it is a long distance relationship...

I was thinking on similar lines as SkiC...I visited Wharton in Oct 2007 too. Are there any tips on selecting the interview location.

I saw tonnes of open slots on campus. So others, pls. hang in there...

Pls. point me to resources on how to prepare for the interview. I will go through the email string for tips from R1ers.

If you can, go on-campus. There are several beneifts of this choice: You show commitment, you can visit a class and get all exciteg before your interview, you can have one or two value solid talking points with your interviewer.

There are cons of interviewing with a current student - interview tends to be very structured and rigid, higher chances of getting an ass as compared to an alumni.

However, the probability of geting a dick is low enough (based on the number of on-campus reports that I have read) that I think its work going on campus. Plus, there is a very small possbility that your interviewer (2nd year student) might be present in the decision room.

Hence, if you can make another trip, I would say do it.

Ok, I am bored and desperate. So I need some analysis on just how many invites are left with less than 2 weeks to go.

Based on the assumption that the posters on this website is more proactive than the average Wharton applicatns (this tends to make sense since I have seen some research on how the people who spend time on messeage boards or keep blogs are the ones with more structured and refined goals and ambitions) or at least similarly proactive as compared to the rest of pool, I learned that exactly 50% of the applicants received invites in the first round.

The 50% mark sounds very, very tempting and accurate because when I applied in 2004, the admission officer did mention something along the line of this finding.

50% gets invite, 40% of the invited gets in, with 10% on the waiting list. The acceptance rate is close to 22% or so.

Back then, the acceptance rate for all the rounds was 17%, and usually the pool in the first round is much stronger than other rounds, incluiding the round 2.

Thus, given this finding, it may be safe to assume that close to 35~40% of the second round applicants would eventually receive invites.

Currently, we have 8 invites and 31 waiting.

So again, we have 8/39 or 40 students, translating to approximately 20% invitation ratio.

In other words, we have 15~20% more invitations to go out before the interview invitation deadline.

Again, in other words, we are only a half way done here, fellas!

Oh, by the way, we can all talk about selectiong bias, pool discrepancy, variables ratio, and other statistics related jargon in refuting my analysis (if you want to call that), but I am pretty confident that we have at least 30~40% invitations left in the Wharton adcom pocket.

Cheers :)

The post below is taken a few months back when all the applicants in the first round received invitation on Nov 14th.
That puts us at 50% with 6 hours to go:

Would any of you with interview invitations be interested in checking online to tell us about the number of available slots remaining? Perhaps there is some information there that will help keep hope alive.

I checked yesterday and there were a good number of spots and dates that opened up all over. Don't sweat it my friend. They have probably not even sent out the majority of the invites yet.

Why is this thread so much more active than Harvard's thread? I've tried to get info on available interview spots, who has received one, etc numerous times with no response recently.
