For the Lauder apps, Did you guys re-state your first essay in thy Why Lauder Essay? I find a rather heavy overlap of the two - it's a bit concerning.

Second question, has anyone on GC applied Lauder, got rejected there, but got into Wharton?

Good to see another Lauder applicant on here! I haven't heard of anyone so far getting in to Wharton but not Lauder but I'm sure it happens.

I wrote the Why Lauder essay with the underlying assumption that the reader would have already read the professional objectives essay at that point (since all people who see your app see the whole thing) - so there wasn't too much overlap because I focused more on how I anticipate Lauder to help me achieve my goals - the first Wharton essay was more around what those goals are.

What kind of hobbies/interest did you guys put in the application? I work-out/run 10 hours a week. I'm assuming that sort of stuff qualifies?

I included skiing so that would fit in my list too (if I were a runner that is)

Is the quality of writing of recommendation (leaving aside the insights about the applicant part) just as important as essays?

Is it okay to list undergraduate research as a extracurricular activities while in college/university? I could not find another home for it.

Where do I pay the application fees?

For applying to Booth it is clear and obvious, but for Wharton?

Thank you!

I clicked on the "submit" button, but as my application is not yet complete, the payment button does not seem to show up. So I'll have to wait a little to see how it looks like. Am I the only one to dislike this applyyourself platform?

Happy New Year by the way! :D

I guess that, for many of us, this year 2011 is THE year we have been waiting for.

Guys,
an unusual situation:

I'm an international prospective student with decent GMAT=750(Q50,V40) but mediocre TOEFL=100.

According to the Adcoms, Wharton does not have any cut-off score for the Toefl, but its average is 113 and
many schools, including Booth, have 104 and 109 cut-off scores. So, I'm a little nervous because of my TOEFL.

The question is: do you know the "honest truth" how Wharton's Adcoms will treat my TOEFL, and what can I do
to help them decide that I'm the man they need? Essays, resume and recommendations are up to the point!

I think no one here knows the "honest truth" about how Wharton will treat your TOEFL.

Anyway in my opinion although I think 100 is low, if they are really interested in you they will admit you. If they think TOEFL is not enough they will require you to take it again, or to take some English courses or whatever before the MBA.

I know someone with 105 who was called by an AdCom member of LBS (another school with no declared cutoff) prior to be admitted but after the interview, and who was asked some questions first-hand in English to be sure that the English was ok, and btw was suggested to take some English courses before the MBA.

I have no clue on the "honest truth" but I doubt it will matter as much since you scored 40 on the V. Do you mind sharing your Verbal percentile and your AWA score? That would throw some light on how they might perceive your situation. Also, if they are solely worried about your English my guess is (and its only a guess really) that they would at minimum at least interview you to see how you perform on that.

I’ll buy you a drink if it works this way :)

Quant Percentile = 93
Verbal Percentile = 91
Total Percentile = 97

AWA is not yet released, but since I’ve taken the test on December 25th, I hope it will come this Monday or Tuesday, just prior the dead-line. Hopefully, GMAC does not celebrate New Year very long.

Pretty sure schools don't care about your AWA score for application purposes. As long as you have your Q and V and total, your AWA processing doesnt mean anything for packet completion purposes

Only thing I've heard about AWA is that they use it to compare to your essays. Which I think is dumb if they do - so a low AWA person isnt supposed to run it by a proofreader and is instead 'supposed' to have grammatical errors?

Silly adcoms.

Yeah - I fell for Lauder when I visited - cannot see a program like that anywhere else in the world - INSEAD has the people, but no additional education / tied in program like this one! My Spanish is rusty, need to focus and brush it up to make sure I get in - taking the OPI in a few weeks.

Good that you split it that way as well - I was going for the goal = Topic A and Lauder essay focuses on how that goes international.

staind

Good to see another Lauder applicant on here! I haven't heard of anyone so far getting in to Wharton but not Lauder but I'm sure it happens.

Please upload a separate Word document for each essay question. Be sure to include your full name, user login, and essay question at the top of each document.

Did you guys do this? I have found that the applyyourself website automatically adds the name and essay question to the PDF upload.

So W asks about "Job Duties" - saying list multiple positions within the same company. How does this differ from the resume? Please help.
