Paying around 2k for one bedroom (it's the end unit so has windows on three sides). From what I've heard, the other one bedrooms are cheaper, but I really liked the one I got. I looked at riverlofts but it's more expensive and basically all Wharton students. Also not Aran of the layouts...but def nice.

Liked the claridge (as long as you go with a renovated unit) but 1700 was bigger and had washer/dryer in unit which I wanted. Wannamaker and dorchester I think are condos so you have to find one you like an didn't want to go though that process from NYC (Esp after I've done it before) plus they're mostly wharton students (I also didn't want dorm feel). 1830 Lombard was nice (and cheaper) if you can get your arms around the location...hope that helps.[/quote]

Thank you so much for your input. This is tremendously helpful!! I looked at Loft at 1835 Arch online and the prices look reasonable too (I am from NYC Philly price range is definitely very reasonable :)) But my friend said that the location is a little further from city centre than other buildings. I think i will definitely check out 1700 walnut, claridge and parc rittenhouse. Now i just need to find my new home for the next two years! This is kind of exciting!!

Income? Don't you mean negatively amortizing debt?

Posted from my mobile device

Haha, I knew someone would comment on that!

My husband works...so I'm planning to pretend that I have no debt during those two years and face the harsh reality only once I'm done :)

Lucky you!!! :)

I'm also looking at housing but for a one bedroom brownstone. I currently live in one in NYC and love it. Brownstones have a lot of character, are cheaper, generally more spacious, and offer a community feel as there are only about 6 other families (max) in the building. Of course, brownstones have their negatives; ie no doorman (which is annoying for packages that require signatures), no elevator (sucks if you're on the top floor), less security, and definitely fewer amenities.

But its a great option nonetheless. From my basic research, it looks like one bedroom brownstones in the rittenhouse square area range anywhere from $1300 - $1800. And as Jmw125 said, it is SO MUCH cheaper (in my case, 60% cheaper, no joke) than NYC. I'm excited to finally have some disposable income!

I don't know how to put this, but I will not accept at Wharton, which I assume will open up a spot on the waitlist.

Best of luck to everyone.

May I ask which school you're going to?

I am not sure.

My heart says Yale.
My head says MIT.
My wallet says Wharton.

I think it's time to follow my heart. Visited and loved Yale, and my sister went there, too!

Wharton is the one school that doesn't ring my bell, so I will reject that offer, for sure.

Interesting...

That's quite an unusual decision.

I agree with you though that you should do whatever makes you happy.

Hi everyone,

I'm new to this forum. I was just invited to interview off-campus for Wharton R3 (I'm overseas). I have a three-week window in which to schedule the interview. Because of work demands, I may not be able to do it until near the deadline. Does it make any difference whether I do the interview early or late within this window?

Would appreciate any of your insights.

Shambot,

Congrats to your Wharton interview invite, this is a huge step to the right direction. I was in the same boat in R2, International applicant with off campus interview. To my knowledge, there isn't a difference of interview in early or late stage as long it is within the window. Note that Wharton has introduced this year a set of six behavioural questions. Just bring your best game to the interview. Good luck.

I'm looking at condos in the Parc Rittenhouse building and it seems that one bedrooms with any sort of view (i.e. don't face directly into another building) rent for ~$2k per month. Does that seem right?

That sounds about right...rent there should depend heavily on the individual apt since they're condos (i think?) and should have quite different finishes (IMO). Claridge with views not of Rittenhouse were around $1850, but i'd expect that to be $50-$100 more for view of the park.

Have any R2 admits been able to use their Penn Key to set up a Wharton Account and e-mail? My Penn Key works, but I can't use it to get an account.

that stuff happened awhile ago ('08-09), its just the first article the murder trial has been pushed off, now finally going again, definitely looking forward to closure on this

but these experiences definitely give me a ton of motivation to do well, be a good classmate, and make an impact,

i just need a new start out away from military setting

might go back to public service down the road, who knows

i cant wait to get up to penn this weekend and this will feel real, after all the hard work we all put into this

I'm pretty terrible at interpreting dress codes so I was wondering what the men are wearing on Saturday night for the "Spring Welcome Soiree?"

The word doc they sent out says dress is "cocktail attire." Is a suit too formal?
