Summer WL as well. Over in the chatroom it seems that EVERYBODY who came in to today on the WL left today on the summer WL. Lame.

Welp... hello Stern! See you in the fall!

Loving the flame wars Jmw125...Sadly, it only demonstrates your impossibility to even remotely consider any argument that is different from yours. BTW, what bschbound says is a legitimate point: there are MANY milestones to fulfill after being matriculated, and if you fail ANY of them your acceptance can be revoked even after accepted (undergrad grades, financial aid, employment history, among others). These are still processing on my side.

So yes, I didn't want to just forfeit my other application and risk being left with nothing if something failed. Maybe you are well-off, have an alternative route or you are filthy rich an can afford to take such risks; none of those are my case, actually the opposite in all cases. So I had to protect my career path. Sorry to be so "egoistic" for your taste.

Finally, I really want to thank all the help and insight from the forums, and actually this is the first time I've seen someone go so out control like we've seen in the last posts. For everyone else, your insights were invaluable in getting into B-School. I hope you keep your dreams alive and pursue them with all your determination and strength.

I can often consider arguments that are different from mine...Bschbound only fell back on that (weak) argument after realizing others felt he wasn't being ethical. From my experience and from the experiences of my friends, once you get in, all of the checks are just confirmatory. Unless you lied about your grades or your employment history, you have nothing to fear. Not sure what you think an HBS background check will turn up that a Wharton one won't...

And you obviously haven't read through all 163 pages of posts as there have been some quite heated moments in this thread over the past year.

agree w/ jmw. If your move really was some sort of hedge, I think that's a strategy best left to yourself given that a lot of folks on here are looking for their first admit and have already been burned by HBS which for many (like myself) was my #1 choice. I can appreciate wanting to be SURE that all the boxes are checked before turning down all your options but just know that the way you are doing it is frankly a little anal-retentive, and doesn't need to be shared with the broader forum. Your neuroticism is being (mis)construed as ego.

Hey JMW. Question. Does W have admits send in a second deposit? If so when is the deadline? Just wanted to see if there is some date us WLs can look forward to. Thanks

Thanks BeeSkool, I agree completely with this quote. I actually didn't mean to hurt sensitivities here, but it is VERY clear for me now how out of touch a post like this can be.

However, it is new for me that, according to your (and Jmw125's) feedback, these verifications and background checks from the schools are nothing but a casual "game" of no importance; I actually didn't see this stated in ANY of the B-Schools websites, so my default attitude was and is to treat them very seriously until finally cleared. I have of course provided all truthful information, but well, the process is over when it is over, not before.

I also understand the feeling of getting burned, as I have been rejected by two B-Schools. And although I won't discuss your selection of adjectives, this discussion turned out to be something to learn from, for me at least. Cheers.

Fairly sure the next payment is full (or monthly) tuition payment when school starts

For the love of God, if you're in at your first choice, just withdraw from the Summer WL and give people like us a chance.
I hate my friggin job and have already planned to quit...The Summer WL was a terrible outcome for me.
I'm an International Applicant and have visa issues to consider as well!!!
A positive outcome on the 18th of July would be absolutely USELESS for some of us.

Help our chances even if its by 0.000005%

Done. Just wrote to withdraw my Summer WL, and although I am not sure it will, I hope it helps at least that 0.000005% or maybe more. Cheers.

you are making a lot of assumptions. what makes you think i will get an admission letter from Wharton? I spent 2 months working on my application (more time than the 3 weeks or so on Harvard) and spent $250, I think I deserve an outcome. Either way, it's my application and like the poster above said, they make more offers than they have seats because they know not everyone will accept their offer. and what makes me have a huge ego. If I said, I was going to Columbia and Columbia was head and shoulders my first choice would I have a big ego?
Nope, no assumptions. You're in at HBS. You're going to HBS. Nothing Wharton can do will get you to go there. Therefore, you shouldn't (potentially) take away a slot from someone else and make them wait for the summer so you can have your "outcome". Has absolutely nothing to do with you choosing HBS over Wharton...just that you're not letting Wharton know that you have no intention of going there even if they admit you off of the waitlist. I, for one, hope your ego takes a nice blow later today.

Well said.

No wonder why HBS students get this kind of reputation.

Interesting flame war, but would have to agree with bschbound. I am going to CBS but Wharton was definitely my top choice. At this point, however, being one of everyone else on the summer waitlist, I am more and more set on CBS the closer orientation comes. That said if Wharton were to admit me, I would have to re-assess which school I ultimately want to attend.

But there is no reason whatsoever for me to remove myself from the WL. And I don't expect anyone else to, for that matter. It's a personal decision and everyone has their reasons.

Are you really trying to draw a parallel between staying on the WL with a CBA admit vs an HBS admit - when you even state wharton is your top choice vs. the OP who stated HBS was theirs.
Seriously.

I am one of the many students who are summer WLs. Like many others, Wharton has always been my top choice from the start and I put so much hope & effort to the school this year. So just wanna ask that whoever is waitlisted by Wharton but already been admitted to some other schools (HBS, Stanford, etc), which you prefer over Wharton, to kindly remove yourself from the waitlist, so that our chance at getting into Wharton will be somewhat enhanced without any impact on your promising future. Sincere thanks.
