I registered a hub interview but lately found a clash. Does anyone know how to cancel the registration? Will it create negative impression on me if I cancel it and switch to a alumni interview?

if you go back to the hub page you'll be able to see your hub appointment and cancel. not sure how this will be viewed, but it shouldn't be a problem.

Thanks cli2g13! I saw the button there but don't know what will happen after I click it? Will something like a textbox popup for me to write an explanation? And will the registration be canceled straight away or be pending approval? Can I see the alum search page again immediately? Now I cannot see alum search because of this hub registration.

I would think it might take too long to get the answer by sending them an email.

1. Is it important to give your business card during your interview? I have an interview at Wharton in a few days but i'm out of business cards.

THEY KINDA KNOW WHO Y0U ARE ALREADY AND HAVE YOUR RESUME, SO DO NOT GIVE THEM BUSINESS CARD.

2. Given a choice between phone interview (with an admissions officer or 2nd year student) and face-to-face alumni interview (in a country other than your country of residence) which one would you suggest?

HOW GOOD IS YOUR ENGLISH? PHONE INTER. WITH FLUENT BUT LESS THAN PITCH PERFECT ENGLISH SPEAKERS CAN BE ANNOYING, ESP. SINCE ADCOM OFFICIAL WILL ALSO BE WRITING DOWN ALL YOU SAY, AS PART OF NEW WHARTON PROTOCOL. I WLD TRY TO DO THIS FACE TO FACE, IF NOT A SUPER HASSLE. ALSO, FOR LOTS OF REASONS, ALUMS MAY BE EASIER GRADERS IN NEW FORMAT, B.C. EXPERIENCED ADCOMS WILL ALREADY HAVE HEARD TOTALLY PREPARED ANSWERS FR. KIDS WHO KNEW THE EXACT QUESTIONS BEFORE AND THEN SPENT HOURS PREPAPRING EXCTLY THOSE ANSWERS W. FRIENDS AND CONSULTANTS, AND THOSE GOLD LEVEL ANSWERS BECOME THE NEW NORMAL.

I am in Philly and I just saw a Philadelphia marathon ad - it's 11/19 - 11/21. Keep that in mind if you are traveling for your interview on those days.

Anyone know if an on-campus interview is similarly rigid.

Also, can anyone who has interviewed on-campus post if they interviewed with 2nd year students, or adcom? Was the experience friendly, or 30 mins of police interrogation?

Thanks!

it was a 2nd year student. on your events, it should say who you're interviewing with. the experience was a combination of the 2 because there was a lot of writing going on.

I have my interview in 2 days time and I am just trying to ignore the fact that some people might be knowing the questions beforehand. I am just going to be myself and face the interview the way I would if I didn't know about this whole change of process.

After all, I am assuming the wharton adcom is smart enough to pick the right candidates and if they are not then I anyways don't want to be in their school :-D .

ps: The truth is that I am just trying to calm my nerves as I don't know the questions :)

Same here...you will be fine..

I AGREE, AND IF YOU HAVE READ STUFF ON THIS THREAD YOU WILL ALSO BE PREPARED. ONCE YOU KNOW IT IS GOING TO BE THREE BEHAVIORAL QUESTIONS, THE REST IS KINDA EASY TO DOPE OUT. I GUESSED MOST OF THE EXACT QUESTIONS DURING MY INTERVIEW IN POETS&QUANTS, AND ALL I KNEW THEN WAS THAT IS WAS GOING TO BE A BEHAVORIAL INTERVIEW, AND THOSE ALWAYS TURN ON ISSUES AROUND LEADERSHIP, COMMUNICATION, TEAM WORK, AND DISPUTE RESOLUTION. THE ACTUAL WORDING OF QUESTION IS A PLUS, FER SURE, BUT YOU ALREADY KNOW ENUF, IT IS THE SUCKER WHO IS GOING INTO INTERVIEW WITH A LIST OF ANSWERS AROUND WHY WHARTON, WHY NOW, WHAT ARE MY 3, 5 AND 10 YEAR GOALS, WHO IS GOING TO BE DISADVANTAGED BECAUSE HE HAS TO MAKE UP SOME RANDOM AND THIN SITUATIONAL ANSWER ON THE SPOT, AND THEN HIS WHOLE INTERVIEW TURNS LARGELY ON THAT STORY.

yes, and they are instructed to tell you that even tho they will be writing like an idiot, you should continue to make eye contact w. them, b.c. how well you use body language etc, is one of the things they report on, even tho the entire situation is abnormal and they are not looking at you--despite this, Wharton still thinks this is a good system. How well you can interact w. someone who is not interacting w. you, but instead taking freakish and massive notes.
and as noted, really GREAAAAAAT way to sell the school.

also, another plus, they have hired and trained kids to conduct these interviews in hubs who are
1. Not Wharton Grads
2. Do not have MBA's
but the last 10 minutes of the interview, you are supposed to ASK THEM any questions YOU have about Wharton--because, after all, THEY NEVER WENT THERE AND DO NOT HAVE AN MBA.
Yes, I have a question? I was wondering if you could tell me the difference between a stock and a bond, and if you cannot, WHAT THE FRIG ARE YOU ASKING ME TO ASK YOU QUESTIONS ABOUT WHARTON???????
I have another question? At HBS and Stanford I was interviewed by a real human being w. an MBA? And we had an actual conversation along w. some questions tailored to my story and situation and it was friendly yet productive and I left feeling positive--I mean, I realize that 1. you dont have an MBA and two, never went to Wharton, so like I dont want to strees you, but . . . .if you never went to Wharton, why the hell should I?????

haha, I realize I never went to business school, and dont have an MBA and yet I am a leading expert in how to get in to B school, but
1. you dont have to hire me, you do have to talk to the Wharton contract worker
2. i have vast experience in helping kids get into business school and a track record, and worked at a business school, and have 30 years of admissions experience, and all that said, you dont have to hire to me or listen to me, you are forced to talk to the Wharton contract worker on the exact subject about which the contract worker has NO experience, in a situation which is important to you, and I was not chosen by Wharton to be the public face of Wharton, they did hire the contract workers knowing it would obviously PO anyone when they found out which seems like dumb thing 218 they have done in this process.

very true. In fact most of us with multiple invites would be prepared for behavioral questions for one school or the other. Even in my K interview last week, I was asked to give an example of conflict resolution in a team setting. I am sure I will do a better job when asked the same question again. But for someone who has prepared keeping Wharton's previous process in mind and hears this question for the first time in his interview will surely be at a disadvantage but I have a feeling this is going to be a very small percentage of people or maybe none given how net savvy everyone is these days.

Thanks Sandy for the great info. To be clear, so the W interviewer will not ask questions around goals, why MBA/Wharton at the beginning, but just 3 behavioral questions?

This interview fiasco is seriously hurting my image of the school

I am interviewing this Thursday with an alumnus and of course will prepare robust answers to each of the questions I've read from Sandy (thanks btw..).

I am debating just laying all the cards out on the table for the interviewer

" I know all of your questions and I have the answers ready.. let me send them to you an e-mail. Let's have a real discussion about Wharton and whether it's right for me."

Sounds a bit like the kid in high school who wanted to protest a final and suggested a mass walkout....and was then the first person in his seat waiting for exams to be handed out....
