I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving yesterday (for those who are in the US). I thought this article I wrote would be of interest to people in this thread, especially those from India. In looking at the last three years of admissions data from Wharton, I found that the acceptance rate for applicants from India was only 3.4% vs. 18.2% for applicants from the US. I'm not sure why the acceptance rate is so different, but it is pretty shocking.

Anyone know how final decision mechanics work? Are we going to get a call the day before as other schools or just a final decision notification on the 16th? Is there a set time for this?

Many thanks
Cheers
J :)

They try to call most admitted applicants on the decision notification date (16th), but otherwise everyone will receive an email once their application status is updated with the decision.

I'm not certain. I think that, for the most part, calls go out based on time zone but I don't know any more specifics. Maybe the information would be found in last year's forum.

From what I've known based on last year and talking to my friends, International call will be made based on Timezone while call in the US can be made anytime during the day.

Btw, I wouldn't worried too much about the system and wouldn't try to find any leak or loophole. I was so paranoid last year because I didn't get the glitch other people were getting; however, in the end I got in and those who got the glitch also got in.

Be patience and wait for the best phone call of your life! Only 3 days left, Good luck guys!

Looks like if I am lucky enough to get a call, I'll be missing it because of international travel :/.

Here are the things that are new (I think) to my account pages:

On actual application page:

View Details
Confirmed: December 09, 2014

On myWharton MBA page:

Opening Page
"Thank you for interviewing with Wharton MBA Admissions. We hope that you've enjoyed the Team-Based Discussion experience and having the opportunity to interact with potential future classmates. You will receive a status update from the MBA Admissions and Financial Aid Office on Tuesday, December 16th, but if you have any questions prior to that date, you can always reach out to our office at 215-898-6183 or email us at [email protected]"

Change Interest Page
I think this used to be a list where you could select different areas you were interested in (i.e. entrepreneurship, women's initiatives, etc.) now it says
"Select a new interest page from the list below.
myWharton MBA Page
Click the link above to activate and access your myWharton MBA page." The link just leads me back to the edit your info page though...I'm losing my mind...

Hi. If it makes you feel any better, this is the same as I have on my application and myWharton MBA pages.

Have a read of alomo's post above - try to relax and just wait for that call on Tuesday. There's nothing else you can do now. We're going to be alright :)

Hi. The Wharton website is pretty clear the decision release date is 16 December. https://www.wharton.upenn.edu/mba/admiss ... dlines.cfm

Do you have any evidence to back up the assertion that admitted students are called one day before? This isn't consistent with my experience last year or the comments I've read on last year's forum.
