I wonder if last year, there was a correlation between early invite, and acceptance...

The only correlation that is obvious, at this point, is the one between submitting early and getting an invite

When did u submit? I submitted on 4th and yet to receive an admit.

Do you guys mind sharing your profile?

I know getting an invite is tough but again its hard for me to believe that I wont receive an interview admit. I have 8 years of varied experience. I am an engineer and entrepreneur(Founder Codearmory.com) and have excellent undergraduation(Premier engg institute in India - IIT). Excellent extracurriculars in US as well as developing countries.

But I guess there may be more accomplished applicants. Moreover I am 32 years old. Hope thats not playing a negative role. :-(

There are 2 weeks left in the invitation period. Assuming that you won't get an invite after 2-3 days of actual invites being sent out is reactionary. Relax...

Updated 1st page with applicants - let me know whether I am missing anyone or have incomplete information.

So far from gmatclub....35 applicants - 4 invited to interview (11%) That tells me we will be seeing a whole bunch of more invites. My guess is at least 10

I have applied as well, I did see my screen name on the list.

And no, no reply from the school yet. Got an invite from Chicago.....but not Wharton or Harvard or Stanford.........the waiting game sucks!

any more gmatclubbers today receive invites?

More than a week passed by.. No calls for me. It's difficult to digest the fact that I wont get at least an interview invite.

Matt, congrats !!!! can u share your profile plz?

I am a fairly cookie cutter candidate. Undergrad from a top private school (non-Ivy), 3.9 GPA in Finance, Math Minor. 770 GMAT. Currently work for a Tier 2 Management Consulting firm doing a variety of strategy / operations engagements.

Hope this helps!
Matt

That's actually very reassuring. Wharton invites ~40%, and GMATclub usually has above average applicants. I would think we get a 50% invite rate here at Gmatclub.

i wish there was more transparency to the whole process. Like Im sure everyone would appreciate knowing if their application was under its first review, second review, etc.

I also don't see what argument could be made against better transparency. We're all adults here....

I find the high % of invites to be a bit discouraging actually (although I have not yet, or may never receive one)...

I browsed through last years thread and saw a ton of invites, but like two accepted students.

Sure its a hurtle, but definitely not the golden nugget that some make it out to be. From what Ive read, Wharton pretty much knows whether they want you before they release the interview. However, I am sure there is a fair share of "Yeah, we probably will end up rejecting him/her, but lets just see what they're like in person."

it's not a golden nugget but it is one step closer to getting admitted. Basically the acceptance rate now is roughly 16-17% , after an invite that number is close to 40%

I am sure they don't invite people they wouldnt consider to accept. Why would they bother wasting their time? Conversely, they probably use the interview to weed otherwise qualified applicants down.

Getting an admit is all about how you present yourself in your essays. Believe them when they say 70-80% are qualified with regards to gpa, gmat, work exp. They use your essays and interview to bring that number down.

Its not about interviewing someone that they wouldnt 'consider' accepting, its inviting people that barely crossed the threshold from auto-ding to Interview.

Not all invites are created equally...

Well I don't agree, but regardless, I will take barely crossing the threshold for an interview lol
