Basically the acceptance rate now is roughly 16-17% , after an invite that number is close to 40%
Yes, the lore has it that way, but given the recent dynamics in the economy and the general awareness about MBA programs and their impact on careers, one needs to do small adjustments of the traditional estimates: apparently the apps have really gone up this year.

You, guys, have a huge lot of competition so do work extra super mega hard on your essays and beyond. I think it is important to view your application as a multi-purpose tool whose parts are designated to tighten up all kinds of different 'screws' here and there. Many people write good essays, but because they do not approach the application holistically (and the adcom views it that way) their submissions turn out to be incoherent or even controversial as a result.

Care to elaborate on how much the applicant pool has grown? 10%?

I remember going to a Wharton event where one of the heads of admission said that applicant pools for the top 3 schools tend to not oscillate with trends in the market, and that she expected applicant pools to swell in the middle-tier MBA degree market...

I guess she was wrong.

I was told the exact same thing at the presentation I attended 2 weeks ago...

Can someone who has received an invite please paste the text of the email?

Dear XXXX,

The status of your application has been updated and you have been invited to interview with the Wharton MBA Admissions Office. (Please look for the link to the letter inviting you to interview located at the bottom of the main page of your online application account.)

Please log into your Wharton account and select "Search" in the Events box to the right on the main page. Next select an interview type (On-Campus or Alumni) and proceed to schedule your interview. Please read the instructions given for each type of interview very carefully.

If scheduling an on-campus interview, select the date you are looking for and proceed. If scheduling a HUB location interview, select the location, and proceed to schedule your interview.

We look forward to meeting you in the near future.

Sincerely,

Wharton MBA Admissions Office

I do not think anyone would release this information now as there is no point in doing so at this point of time, but lots of people say that the volume has gone up significantly.

Just saw this posted on BW forums. Maybe I should chill out until the last couple of days (or maybe not ;) ). I did go through last year's thread and I think many of the calls came in the last few days.
*************************************
Current Wharton student here - let me preface this by saying I have no affiliation with the admissions office whatsoever.

I was in your shoes last year, so I totally understand how nerve-wracking the waiting period can begin.

Last year, I received my interview on the second-to-last-day. Speaking with friends here at school, I know most of my friends also heard about their interviews towards the end of the invite period.

My best advice: don't try to "crack" the system and look for any trends regarding age, gender, nationality, or career track. There are so many variables, and so many eyes, that go into reading each application. Try to trust the recommendations that you hear from others - stay calm and confident that you'll receive an invite, and know that the highest probability of receiving one is during the last few days of the period.

I totally agree with this post, but I know how hard it is not to try and crack the system! I feel for you guys, I was there too. Just go out and do your stuff.

Hope this is not a dumb question - is tomorrow a work day in the USA? Can we expect invites to be sent out, or is it a holiday because of voting? (Here they make election days a holiday).

I expect the bulk of interview invites to go out starting next Monday til the deadline on Thursday. It's possible that since first readers are students, they probably procrastinated and put off reviewing apps until they had recruting/academics out of the way first.
