Got an email from Wharton expressing their sympathies about Mumbai. It was really considerate of them to send that.

Is this email only for Indians?

I got this mail( and so did my hubby). I agree. Very considerate and sensititive.

Yes, I think its only for indian candidates...

Just (finally) did my alumni interview. Only question I got that didn't pop up here was 'Name a time where you had to bend the rules to accomplish something'. Took a bit of thought but I was at least able to say something that didn't show me as a convicted felon but also not too vanilla. At least doing it this late in the game means I only have to wait 20 more days....

Just finished my interview on-campus with a 2nd year. I think it went pretty well and I'm feeling good about how everything turned out. I believe today is the last day of interviews for round 1, so all we need to do now is wait and see the results in a couple weeks.

Here are the questions I was asked:

- Walk through career path
- Why MBA/Why Now?
- Why Wharton?
- More detail about extracurriculars
- What do you want to learn/gain through Wharton?
- Anything not covered in interview/application?
- Any questions for me?

My interviewer was very nice and friendly which made it easier for me to interview with him. He mentioned that Wharton students really don't have the "jerk" factor and people don't have their noses in the air just because they're at Wharton. I really liked that because I wouldn't want to be in an environment full of big-headed people.

I absolutely loved the campus and the small college town surrounding the university. Philly is such a small but cute city... I can totally see myself here next year (i hope!).

Best of luck to everyone waiting along with me~ =)

Hi Guys,

Just finished my Wharton interview today. I am posting a small debrief. Given that today is the last day, I hope it will be helpful for R2 applicants.

My interviewer was a 1974 graduate from Wharton. He was a highly accomplished person, retired at 55 after being the CEO for 7 years.

We began by discussing my extra curricular activities straight away, which caused me slightly off-guard. I was expecting a background question like Walk me through your resume. It also proved that my interviewer had gone through my resume quite thoroughly, as I saw my resume on his desk, all dirty with pencil marks.

Second, he asked me a little bit about my family, I used this question to explain in detail my upbringing and my education.

Next he asked, how did I become a team leader so fast and what were the challenges with leading a team of older, more senior engineers. I used this question to highlight my appraisals at workplace and positive feedback from clients.

Then he moved into the expected path.
Why MBA and Why Wharton?
Asked me what my team members thought that my strengths and weaknesses were.
Did I bend rules to achieve an objective?
If he visited Wharton Graduation ceremony in 2011, what will my team members say that my contribution to their Wharton experience was?

Then we moved into more interactive conversation about my goals, regarding the current economic situation and its impact on my target industry. Ended with my questions for him and if I added to add something to my application.

Yes, he also asked me if there were any questions that I had prepared for, but were not asked.

All in all, a very positive and relaxed experience.

You can either scan a pdf of your transcript or self-report using the excel template.

I plan to apply in R2, but just wanna ask about the recommendation. If I only submit 2 recommendations will it affect my candidacy, coz they say the 3rd one is optional? Thanks!
