Just bombed my video essays. With my otherwise average profile, doesn't seem like I am going to get an interview invite!!!

Not with that attitude! Cheer up, buddy - it's just one part of the process. Fingers crossed!

I hope so too.. But its just that I can't believe how badly I did on all three questions. I was way better with Kellogg video essays!!

yea, I found the Kellogg one much easier and relatable (even the people asking the questions seemed friendlier)

I really struggled on my video essays. One answer in particular was horrendous, but none of them were fantastic ...and I will be matriculating at Yale SOM this fall!

All that to say, don't stress. I almost think it just helps them to have our voice in their heads when they read our essays. It really is just one very small part of your application - and they know it's the piece you spent 10 minutes on, rather than the pieces that reflect months and years of work. I think it's weighted accordingly.

All the best to all the R2 applicants! Yale SOM is a really special place. I look forward to seeing some of you around this fall!

Does anyone have any idea about how Yale SOM sends out the interview invitation and ding notification??? Are they going to happen on any particular day or are they continuous processes throughout the next two months? Frankly, compared to other schools, I am a bit upset that Yale didn't send out any next step email regarding the interview timeline and related stuff.

I'm glad I got that over with. I kind of tripped over myself and rambled a bit, but I got the basic message across and stayed within the time limit. Overall, not my best performance, but I've had much worse.

I also finished the video questions yesterday, just before the deadline.

Questions were ok, answers should be "fair enough"; let's see what Yale thinks.

Just done with the video essays:
Following were the questions:

1. What is the biggest challenge facing leaders today?
2. What was the unique or creative solution you created ... do not remember exactly.
3. It has been said that universities have a responsibility to prepare students for the workforce. Do you agree or disagree and why?

All the best to all!!

My questions were either the exact same or very similar. If you prepare for this as if it were an actual interview, you will crush it.

I made a little cheat sheet of examples that I was going to cite depending on whether it was a "greatest challenge," "teamwork," etc. question and once I answered a question that dealt with that example I crossed it off so that I knew I couldn't use it again.

Frankly, I enjoyed the process and hope other schools adopt it.

My video essays certainly weren't brag material as I felt fairly uncomfortable. I BOMBED the practice questions and decided to just move on to the real thing. When I got the real questions, they were things I had an opinion on and could respond pretty well to.

Some people on here are talking about how they were able to "fit" their responses within the time limit. Was 60 seconds really hard to fit answers into?! My longest response was in the 25-30 second range. This is really the only thing that makes me nervous, albeit minimally. Should I have gone into more detail, perhaps (rhetorical question - I'm not going to go back and change them and I'd rather not stress about it)?

I have a feeling the video questions are more of an 'English test' than anything else, given the school does not require formal English test scores. This should work in their favour in terms of stats, as it does not discourage any "I'd apply but I'm a sliver under the English proficiency requirement" applicants. Combined with a set class size, this puts downward pressure on their acceptance rate, which I think is a factor for certain ranking providers.

I also have nothing to base this on so take it with a grain of salt!

Same here. Just answer the question then stop.
