Unless things have changed, they don't need your sealed transcripts until you are made an offer of admission.

This is taken straight from Chicago's FAQ:

Q: What kind of transcript is needed for an application?
A: We need an official transcript, a copy of a transcript or a self-reported transcript at the time of application. An official transcript will be required if you are invited to interview. If you only have access to one transcript, you can send us a notarized copy as an alternative.

Thanks!

I'm new and was asking myself that same question. My application moved to complete despite only sending an unofficial copy so far - so I think its ok.

I just popped in to say GOODILY-DOODILY LUCKI-DOO! to all the 1st R-ers here!
Chicago is awesome - you'll love it! And here you can take just three classes during the Fall quarter - this helps big time, when you have to juggle going-back-to-school thingy, classes, recruiting, family, friends, social life, what-nots.

You're making me jealous helg. I really hope I get some good news by November 12th. No other school has managed to excite me as much as Chicago.

If you don't mind me asking, what are you taking this semester, helg? Mini-turbo, regression, and accounting?

My brother is an alum from the class of 2006. The two years at GSB were the best in his life - and I am sometimes amazed at seeing how much he developed over those two years. I can't tell you how much I enby the experience you are going through and really hope to be in the same place next year!

None of those :) Just regular down-to-earth micro, business stats, and marketing strategy (threw in a case based course for a change)

Helg, I've heard that Mark Strat takes around 8 hours on average to prepare for classes, is it true?

I decided to take Mini-turbo (with Topel), easy Accounting, Investments and Competitive Strategy, and I'm having serious issues with time (well, actually I'm sleeping less, so it's not time per se, it's sleeping time   ). Rhyme told me that I may regret a little now, which I am, but in the not too far future I will enjoy it. You see that's one of the beauties of the GSB, if you like it, while in other schools people are on the core, if you can handle the pressure, you may take advanced classes, and already know some stuff before recruiting (guys from other schools, be cool).

The cons, I don't have classes with helg :( , though I have classes with many others Gmatclubbers.

Good Luck guys.

I just heard back from Chicago on this issue:

"Thank you for your email. We cannot make a final admissions decision without your official transcripts and test scores on file. We are asking all Round 1 applicants to arrange for this information to be sent to us as soon as possible. "

They were so nice - really makes you want to meet them in person:)

This means - go ahead and ask your undergraduate schools to send your transcripts to Chicago GSB.

Ok, lemme see...
Weekly reading ~ 3 hrs/week
Group meeting to write up a case - 2 hrs/week
Case write-up finalization ~1 hr/week
So, it's more like 6 hours, but I can see where another 2 may come from  (and I don't mean procrastinating! :-D )

Hey, we will, we still have like 5 quarters ahead! :-D

Does anybody know whether the GSB actually releases interview invites on or near the 10/29/08 date the admissions people have quoted? Or do they release them a couple weeks after that date, much like Wharton? I can't locate the full 2008 thread to see what happened last year.
