An extract from an interview invite letter:

Quote:
Applicants who sign up for interviews on Saturday, February 16th or February 23rd will have the opportunity to have lunch with current students.

From yesterday's chat:

WOh__Guest_: As someone who has lived in great weather all my life, how do you manage the cold and does the hard winters affect you?
Sabrina: Hi WOh! I lived in Australia my whole life before coming to Chicago so winter used to be around 50 degrees. :) I moved here with 1 suitcase. I think the first time it snowed, I wore half the items in my suitcase! You learn to adapt and the snow is actually pretty. Layers, layers, layers! I love playing tennis and you can't really do that in the winter so instead I bought a Nintendo Wii. :) You will adapt and it will scare you the first time you say "40 degrees is warm."

Hahahaha, I need a Wii, BTW, what is the average temperature in Chicago at early march, I mean for the Admitt Weekend?

Kwam, one of the great (or worst) things about the Midwest is how unpredictable the weather can be. It could be anywhere from 20-65.....But if you asked me to make a prediction, I would guess the weather will be in the 40's....

Hey all,

I just got my interview today at the alumnus office. The guy was very polite and professional, I would say somehow friendly, but mostly professional. We exchanged a few jokes about showing love to the school by interviewing on Valentine day.

We had the interview in a meeting room. The interview was in English. The way he conducted the interview was quite formal :

1) Introduced himself and talked about his career.

2) Questions:
- Why an MBA, why now, why Chicago
- What can you bring to Chicago
- What do you know about the school
- How would your friends describe you
- What would you do at the GSB
- Favorite experience in my career
- Picked a line in my resume from a very quant oriented internship, and asked me what the hell was that
- Favorite class in undergrad
- How do I define leadership

3) I asked him a few questions about the clubs (and the wine club :) ) , about the bidding system, and about exchange programs.

He then asked me : one last question, how does the GSB rank among your choices? I said that it was number one (duh) as I only applied to Chicago based schools, and it fit better my career goals and was a challenging curriculum, etc...

I feel the interview went well. Nothing exceptional, but good. I was really well prepared thanks to rhyme's guide (thanks a lot dude for that) and no question was really surprising. He even laughed a couple of times. But well, it's my first interview, so I have no benchmark to say whether it was good or bad...

Good luck guys with your interviews, and read Rhyme's guide, it is priceless...

I know... I actually told him that K was at first my top choice, until I digged into the school programs (talked about specific courses), then I realized that Chicago was a better fit for my goals... :)

BTW, if anyone will be in Chicago in March, I'll be there, and would love to meet for a beer if anyone is up for it !

One day late, but still a Valentine gift. Got an invite today!
I only have options for weekdays: 18-20 and 25-29th. Anyone else interviewing during these dates?

Rhyme,
Will you be on campus during the week? What days are classes held?
I have the Darden interview on 28th so I am thinking about either 20th or 25th.

When interviewing on campus, are we supposed to report to the office of admissions at:
5807 South Woodlawn Avenue
Chicago, Illinois 60637

What is the recommended mode of travel? rent a car or take the EL ? If taking the EL, get off at hyde park or U of C (59th Street)? Walk or take a cab ?

Classes are any day of the week. What's available varies a bit by day, but you can always have something to go to. I may or may not be on campus those days. The 18th, I wasn't planning on it, but I can make a trip down here if you'd like. The 19th/20th I wont be (flying out). The 25-29th, its a big maybe. I may be on the east coast for 2nd rounds that week but I'm not sure which days yet.

Congrats on the invite. Let me know what day you'll be here and I'll make a point of trying to be on campus.
