collegesenior did you actually get the official word. Well you can just think of it as yield control since you are getting into HSB (positive thinking). I do think that GSB accepts fewer people fresh out of school and I haven't heard of them doing deferred acceptances where they tell you to work for two years and then you are allowed to attend.

sorry to hear that senior...best of luck on the rest of your applications.

The terrible thing about them sending out dings now are people who get emails from GSB today will see them and feel great believing its an interview. Admin411 is already showing another ding too so they must be sending them out. I wonder if anymore invites will go out.

Interesting answer:

jacksprat__Guest_: Is the application growth mainly international or is it also coming from U.S. based applicants?
Rose: Both. Our domestic applicant pool grew at a greater rate than our international pool in round 1.

Sorry to hear that collegesenior. I was always rooting for your admit in H .. so a ding in Chi wouldn't really matter. All the best!

The application growth topic has been talked about a lot and it seems to be that some of the growth is based on people applying to 6 or 7 schools instead of 2 or 3. During this process I have met plenty of people who are applying to every single M7 school or at least a half dozen schools.

That said schools aren't getting any bigger and there are only so many spots at top 10 schools to go around...thus people apply to tons to spread out the risk somewhat and it is such a random event. I met people who go into H or S but not MIT or Kellogg...I mean on paper you could be the ideal candidate and they just might not like what you are saying in your essays and there goes you chance.

Denied :(

I don't know how to feel. It wasn't my number 1 choice (number 5) but still, a ding is a ding.

Yes.

Don't sweat it. I always like to tell this story about my friend who graduated a few years ago. He applied to S, K, and H. Ding, ding, respectively. Then, when he thought he was a goner because his H app was, in his opinion, the worst one of the three...accepted. When I talk to him these days, I don't think he is too hung up on those dings!

Guys,
Just back from the Interview.....
I prepared with the assumption that I would have a nightmare of an interview and it turned out to be a breeze. No tricky questions ...
We met at a Cafe at 6:30 PM. She introduced herself and we exchanged the usual pleasantries and she talked about her background and just asked to go ahead and walk me through the resume....She was extremely easy going and just allowed me to talk in a flow and interrupted for relevant questions
She followed that with a Why now question and Why Chicago followed by a how do you plan to bring value to Chicago.
She then opened up for questions and rounded up by saying that she will be putting in a feedback to Chicago and wasnt sure when I would hear back. She asked me to keep in touch and the we split.
Overall, a mellow and to the point interview. She was extremely happy about Chicago and talked about her various experiences.
I dont know if I aced the interview but I am 100% positive that I did not blow up. I am satisfied as I covered all I wanted to and all I can do now is
sit tight and WAIT............

Good luck to all who are interviewing out there
