Hi everybody,

I'm struggling with the first essay for Chicago. As mentionned above, the wording ("personal") and the length (1500 words) is intriguing. Does that mean that I have to put in all my "personal" accomplishments?

My professional career is not exactly wow, but it is compensated by a high targeted GMAT and some strong extra-curricular activities. I don't really see where i could put that in the other essays. Does this mean that I would somehow have to integrate it in essay 1?

Thanks a lor for you help!

You can treat your PPT as an interesting format to give them an idea about your extras. Try to make it like a good PPT, meaning interesting and using bullets. Dont write 4 more pages of essays for a ppt.

You definitely can work extras into your essay 1, just dont throw it it in there. You need to make sure it fits and flows. Also you can always pick a person related to your extras to write about in essay #2, so that you can get in more info that way. I feel that Essay #2 is going to be typically underutilized by applicants...it isnt a report on a person you admire, its another opportunity to let the adcoms know more about who you are and what you believe beyond a resume and the 1500 word essay.

GMAT gets a spot and has value but dont overestimate it.

I used my extras and tied them into activities I would like to bring my experience to at the GSB. Most of my essay 1 talked about my personal and career aspirations and what the GSB offered to get me there. I spoke a little about what I would bring to the GSB as far as work experience goes. The more detailed you are about why MBA, why your career path, and why GSB... the better.

I am trying to fill out the employment history section of the app. I have had 5 positions with the same company over the past 6 years. Should I put down each one?

Definitely put down each position with dates and salary to show your progression within the company.

i dont remember what the employment section looked like, but they ask for a resume, so you can write down all your positions there too.

R1 people and current students (rhyme),

Where can I find Chicago GSB's fulltime MBA course catalog? I am writing about the classes I want to take but I can't find any detailed course descriptions on the website.

Thanks!

That was bookmarked on my comp. I dont even remember how I found it, I think you have to search for it and pick through pages until you find it.

adcom posted on the official chicago gsb forums saying that they will probably not be able to call everyone with an admit by the deadline, although all decisions should be uploaded online. So if you don't get a call by Dec 19th, don't freak.
