But it just makes me think that if Columbia is that sold on high gmat scores, why don't they just state it upfront, that " Hey if you don't have something close to a 700, don't bother applying", it will at least save so much time and all hardwork someone might be putting in for an application.....why be a hypocrite saying that GMAT is just one part, can't u be like it is hte most important part...
Because they want as many people to apply as possible to:
1. Lower their acceptance rate, therefore improving their rankings
2. Be able to select the top candidates with the best and most diverse experiences, even if their GMAT score is low. There may be some Olympic medalist who saves homeless children with HIV in Africa that never got the time to boost his GMAT over 600. Schools would be stupid to say "if you don't have 700, don't bother", since they would never have seen this person's resume.
3. Because they just like to mess with us applicants.
