My interviewer wrote me an email informing me about the submission. Once you get that email, you should have a final result pretty soon.

All the best!! Hope you get an admit at Col (As long as you aren't eating into my seat :wink: )

Thanks, mNeo. I have not gotten an email from her yet, so I guess she is working on it. Strange because she responded to my initial emails within 5 minutes of me sending them. She seemed to be quick on the turnaround, but oh well. No use in stressing over it.

If I get in, I won't be taking your seat. We have different backgrounds that would add different perspectives in a group scenario. I would be taking a seat from some other American with a finance background. Hopefully that will be the case, as long as it's not another GMAT Clubber!!! They should be recruiting from this forum!

dj, were you asked the question what other schools are you applying to ?

I saw this question on clearadmit blog a lot;
and in my case, some other schools I am applying to probably don't make sense with my app. to Columbia (e.g. Darden, Cornell) ...

I heard stories from an Alumni that if your gmat is not at least 700, the adcom will not even read your essays. But then there was another girl, who was on the HERMES society and she had a 550 on her gmat, the lowest the school has ever accepted..... But it just makes me think that if Columbia is that sold on high gmat scores, why don't they just state it upfront, that " Hey if you don't have something close to a 700, don't bother applying", it will at least save so much time and all hardwork someone might be putting in for an application.....why be a hypocrite saying that GMAT is just one part, can't u be like it is hte most important part...

690 GMAT, 33, engineer (although sort of unique engineering back ground), PR of USA, IN at CBS. So they do read essays of those who score below 700.

Yes, I was asked that question. I just said that Columbia is my number one choice for reasons X, Y, and Z, and if I have to I will reapply next year. My answer was vague, but I did not name schools and I kept it honest. CBS is my #1 and if I am reapplying next year I will reapply to CBS.

I have a pretty unbelievable story regarding my interview (or non-interview I should say). I was supposed to meet my interviewer at 8:30am for coffee, and when 9:00 rolls around she is still not there. I call the number that I have and it is her office number. They pass me along to her cell. When I ask if she is in traffic or lost, she says, "I am so sorry, I completely forgot about our meeting." I got stood up by my interviewer!

Nevertheless, she was very apologetic, and agreed to meet me tomorrow morning. Really no sweat off my back, but how crazy is that?

IMO, that's the best thing ever. She should be super nice to you.

If you look on Bizweek forums, like half the people admitted so far have GMATs below 700. I really don't think Columbia manipulates their stats any more than other top schools....
