Hello oodl,

Can you confirm that INSEAD asked you to email the resume to your interviewers? They asked me to email only the profile section of my application.

Thank you.

oodl
1. i requested a physical copy from my university then scanned and uploaded it
2. i didn't post up a resume. when i got my interview invites, INSEAD asked me to email my interviewers a copy of the resume
3. i scanned and uploaded an official copy of my GMAT score report and also requested GMAC send an official score report to INSEAD
4. i used a passport photo. i read somewhere, either on their website or in the online app, that the pic is going to be used for your student ID card and act as your official picture throughout INSEAD. maybe a current INSEAD student can confirm this.

sorry. i was mistaken. in the email, they did NOT explicitly ask me to send the interviewer my resume. i thought they did. they only asked to provide the profile section of my application.

but i did provide both my interviewers my resume (and the profile section). both referred to my resume during our interview.

for int exposure, i wrote my most significant time abroad, whether for business or vacation. under activity, i wrote things such as "summer vacation" or "business trip". you can be more descriptive than what I wrote though.

for activities/interest, "position", "level", and "office held" are different terms for roughly the same thing. basically a term to describe what your role, importance, or contribution is. examples would be vice-president, marketing chair, or assistant coach.

i suggest you contact INSEAD directly since they will be able to give you the "correct" answer. i can only share my experience and what i did may not be the best way to do it.

Oodl,

I hope you get in. And I hope that I get in to join ya!

More questions...sorry
For International Exposure section,
what kind of activities are they expecting to see?
Can I simply put "living? working? studying? travelling?" Without any examples, it's difficult to guess.
Also it seems like the field is limited.

For Activities/Interests,
I am a bit confused by position/level/office held.
Are we supposed to list either one of three or all of the three?
What does office held mean? Can you give me an example?

I must be a pain!

Thanks.

Hey guys,

How are the interviews going? It has been a bit quiet around here lately.

I just finished my second interview yesterday and now the dreadful wait starts.

The second alumni was very sharp and asked me some unexpected tough questions. Differently from the first interviewer, he was mostly focused on my personality and how I would interact with other students once in INSEAD.

I was asked several case-like behavioral questions such as: Based on what you observed from this company work floor and based on what you observed about my personality from talking to me for 15 minutes, how would you handle a consulting assignment for me? What assumptions would you make and what would you do to better service us?

Luckily, I had done a research about his industry and paid attention to the people on the floor while I was walking in to the meeting.

So, my advice is to be prepared for the usual questions, but also open to improvise (without bulshiting too much).

Cheers!

I believe they start calling on the week of the 16th, but most calls are made very close to the deadline.

Hi folks,

The same question bothered me, so I took the time to go through the forum's topic for the R1 of Sept 2011 intake. And I confirm Brazilian's answer: the first post from an accepted applicant was on Dec 15th 2010 when the deadline for the final answers was on Dec 17th 2010. So we can expect to get news on our own applications at best around Dec 14th this year...

In other words, we still have to wait a long time...

For those who'd want to double-check ;) here's the reference of the post: it's on page 28 of the topic "INSEAD SEPTEMBER 2011 Intake", posted by habeebee on Wed Dec 15, 2010 at 11:10

Another question...

I hear there is a quota for each country/region which INSEAD is open about.

I'm from Canada. So how does the # of Canadians so far affect my chances? How does this all work?
How many seats are left for Canadians as we are past R1?

Posted from my mobile device

The number of Canadians so far is 0. (Assuming, no one got a deferral from last year)

So, no need to worry about the quota now. It might become an issue if you get waitlisted.

I am just back from my 2nd interview and ... looks like I am out of the race. Not a single question was hard or unexpected, but one of my answers 99% blew away a year of preparation and hard work put into the application.

Well, if it's something that obivious, maybe you should call the girl and apologize again. Tell her that you won't be able to sleep at night because of that.

Maybe you still have time to save your dating prospect (candidacy)

A basic mistake cannot and should not put you out of the game.

Cheers

I feel for you. Really do. Hope you mentioned the name of the other girl as a casual fling while proposing a serious relationship with your current date. Sheesh .. the entire admission process is so daunting and filled with danger.

What puzzles me in INSEAD application process is that they don't require a CV! And there is only that much info you can stuff into the application form and essays. That creates a situiation when if you have a fantastic track record from many countries you cannot really present that during the application (not enough space!). At the interview, however, alumni request your CV so you can start shining :)

Guys,

Does INSEAD truly stick to their word limit? Or do they allow +/- 10%?

Unfortunately they are very strict. not a word above the quote... choose your words carefully
