1/10 application done
1/27 interview invite email
2/1 Lolita called and asked if I could come in the next day
(I would have preferred a bit more time to prepare, but I wanted to appear flexible and the upside was I didn't have a week to get too freaked out about it)
2/2 Interviewed with a 2nd year student
Nervous and waiting for the decision like everyone else!
My interview seemed ok - conversational/candid.
10 minutes of resume rundown (I've started 2 health care businesses - had to explain what the companies did, etc. This part took longer than I would have liked)
10 minutes of "why MBA?, Why Rice? Why now?" - again- conversational, he interjected with what he liked about the program, trips he has gone on with the program, etc.
He then asked if I had any questions for him- I joked "no strengths and weaknesses or team and leadership questions?" and he laughed and replied that he "hated those types of questions"
10 minutes of conversation/ my questions for him regarding career in strategy/management consulting and student life.
Fingers are crossed!
It sounds like the interview went well. I can't believe they called you and asked you to come in the next day. Seems a bit disorganized on their part. I'm guessing you live in the area.
Way to "roll with the punches", though. It's commendable that you were basically called in out of nowhere, showed up as asked, and did a good job.
