Hey Guys
I am back with another query
Can an email that i sent before i did any kind of research hamper my chances?
So it all started an year back when i sent an email to almost 60 bschools asking them to evaluate my profile.(a foolish mistake)
And the email i wrote wasn't that that formal. I mean it was kinda typed in an amateurish way and now that i read that email myself - I am like WHY THE HELL DID I WRITE THAT..!!
I received an immediate response from almost all schools that they can obviously evaluate my profile before i actually submit the app.
Some of them did send me a generic mail to which i further responded And asked them to reread my message instead of sending me a generic mail (Again -foolish)
The problem is - I am looking forward to apply into those schools this year or maybe the next.
Will it be held against me?
P.S=> the mails that i sent were from an account i hardly use.
Regards
Stone Cold
I wouldn’t be too hard on myself if I were you, we all make mistakes. That said, I think none of us can know for sure if this will have an impact on your chances or not.
I say that for two reasons: 1. I don’t think what you did is so common that schools would run checks by default on such things but 2. If they did decide to do a search like that, your email would likely pop up in seconds. So there is no way of knowing really, but my personal opinion is that it is unlikely to be an issue. But again, I can’t really be sure.
If I were you, I would try to think of a response should it ever come up (it is unlikely to, in my opinion, but just to make yourself feel a bit better and to do something pro-active), that shows that you realize it was a mistake, why you did it (for positive reasons of course, you were really enthusiastic etc.) and what you learned from it. Don’t spend a lot of time on this, and never bring it up yourself of course, but you know… just in case it does.
And avoid using that email account for any further business school related issues, of course.
