Hi
steeeez830,
Thank you for reaching out and for sharing your profile. You have a compelling personal story about which I would like to learn more. Indeed, top 10 programs receive applications from candidates with higher GPA scores (average 3.5+). To counterbalance the low GPA, I recommend building a strategy to help increase your GMAT score to 720+. The GMAT helps universities discern a candidate's capability to succeed in their program. Also, you need to flesh out the reason why you need an MBA, and why now. You should consider applying to three different school buckets to give yourself a fair chance: stretch, safety, and reach.
As to your personal story, it is imperative that you, which includes your background, is at the forefront of your candidate profile. You must, however, provide pertinent information and not overshare... there's a fine balance.
You might benefit from a free consultation. If interested, please reach out to coordinate a call (contact details in signature).
Good luck!
