Hi everyone, thanks for the review!
Background:
White, Male, applying in ~3-4 years
Graduated from Big 10 state school: Finance major, 3.85 cumulative GPA
GMAT: 710 (51Q, 35V). Had scored 41+ V on my past three GMATPREP exams. Nerves got to me during the actual test. Should I plan to retake and hopefully get a 730+?
Work experience:
Starting at MBB consultancy in a few weeks
(Aside: my firm encourages doing a 6 month externship after working for 2 years. I have a very strong connection with a current governor's campaign manager and he/she has expressed interest in me joining their campaign team during the next election cycle in a fairly senior position. How would this opportunity be viewed if I were to do it for my externship?)
Extracurriculars:
Formerly ranked in top 20 nationally for wrestling by official US governing body. Numerous injuries forced retirement before college.
Recently cleared from latest surgery and began Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Hoping to compete at the regional level over the next 2-3 years.
Non-Profit consulting/volunteering with local charter school.
POST MBA goals: Join Middle Market Private Equity fund with operational focus or Growth Equity fund.
In my mind, this is what I see (with current GMAT):
Shot in the dark schools: HSW
Reach schools: Booth, Kellogg
Target: Columbia, Sloan, Haas
Thanks again!
