Thank you for the feedback.

I feel my GPA is definitely a negative, with two mitigating factors:

1) My first two years I ended with a 3.0 and had some troubles due to immaturity and a family tragedy.

2) I transferred to a more difficult program and obtained a 3.4 while working 30 hours/wk to support myself, to end with a 3.2

I address both of these points in optional essays (without asking for sympathy or belabouring the points) so hopefully they take these into consideration.

It certainly is difficult to communicate who you are through written word. That's why so many of us hope for that interview where we can add a personal element to the equation and hopefully showcase our interpersonal skills.

Thanks again . . . this site is a true blessing for all of us out there with the MBA dream!

Djohnson,

It definitely sounds like the circumstances you described would mitigate whatever negative the adcoms see in your GPA. Good to know that you explained it all to them in the optional.

Good luck,
