I am applying to HBS in a year's time here is my profile:
GRE: Q169 V160 (Current) - I will be retaking and hoping to score Q170 V165
Education: University of Toronto BBA (Graduated with High Honors top 10%) and University of Oxford MSc Financial Economics (MFE) (expecting to graduate with Merit)
Work Experience:
2 Years Consulting, Capital Markets at (Big 4)
- Specialized as a Consultant working specifically on large Pension Funds, Insurance Funds, and Big Asset Management companies.
- Worked with the Boards and CEOs/CFOs to manage the direction/risk/future growth plans
- Worked towards the CFA designation (to be completed before MBA).
- Applied for Grad School + Got an opportunity to work in Corporate Strategy at one of the Largest Pension Funds in Canada
1 Year Corporate Strategy Associate (Big Canadian Asset Management Firm)
- Currently helping large Pension Fund Scale to 1 Trillion CAD in assets.
ECs:
- I started a NFP that mentors High School student from Inner City Schools by partnering them up with professionals (i.e. my peers) - I am an inner city student as well - I wanted to create this impact to help other students like me.
- I brought together a team of 20 people - and helped 50 students in my first year - I brought on Big 4 firm as a partner as well
- I help lead 6 events a year to help students with different aspects of career development.
Career Goals:
To work in Corporate Strategy at a large multinational... long term goal to become the CEO of a large multinational. Want an MBA to develop my leadership and soft skills and build my network.

Thank you for sharing your profile. Overall, I think you have a compelling case- excellent academic performance at two distinguished institutions as well as a strong GRE score. Your professional experience seems interesting as well, but to adequately assess it, I require more details about the qualitative and quantitative measurement of your professional success (thus far).
The elements that will most likely be the deciding factor is your narrative -how will you present your case? You will be competing with the best of the best, and your story cannot be "good," it needs to be "outstanding" - particularly because of your professional goals, you must show a high probability of future success.

SZGRE, a few more thoughts on your profile and plans:

- Your academic pedigree looks decent; the MFE is via distance/online route? Will be good to illustrate how tough is being in top 10% relatively speaking. If you are able to hit that target, that'll be true gold.
- The professional profile is good. However, HBS is about how will you take it from good to great. Big 4 is not that usually; unless your work there was. Also, from corp strategy to corp. strategy may not be an awesome story - they'd want to understand how the MBA really helped you scale. Think harder along those lines and how to pitch your story.
- I also don't see anything on the ECs front. This is why extracurricular matter in your MBA application. Given that HBS gets power packed applicants, several times, this becomes a pretty important lever to differentiate.
