Thanks abhimahna, for your thoughts.

Do you know if I have to notify programs of this change? Or would I bring this up during an interview?

I think you can bring this up during the interview. That's fine. Show them the excitement you have towards your goals that you got a chance to move closer and you took the opportunity.

All the best :)

I am being offered a contract position for a similar job that I have now that will offer 1) a title bump 2) a pay increase 3) increased business exposure (in comparison to my current role which is in an academic institution).

I am ready to take the offer, because whether or not I get into b-school I think it will offer great experience, growth potential and more challenges. I plan to transition out of my role in March if I don't receive admittance to any program anyway into a job similar to this so it's a great option (just earlier than expected!)

That being said, I do not want to jeopardize my chances of getting into b-school by making this transition. That is my #1 priority so any advice as to whether to take this job now or wait until I hear back would be much appreciated.

Hi youreah00t,

Thanks for your query.

In case this new position is in sync with your career goals, you must go ahead and take it up :) At the interview stage you could always mention that a new opportunity came up and you chose to take it up for the exposure and learning it had on offer :) The Admissions Committee will surely respect your decision. Hence, so long as you are not complicating your profile and only strengthening it, the job change will not have any negative implication :)

Hope this helps.

All the best!
