Does anyone know of any movement on the waitlist?

A ding or an acceptance off the waitlist?

No they don't. Somewhere on the website they state that they cannot provide feedback to dinged applicants. They get thousands of applications and it would be far too time-consuming for them to go through every person and provide feedback. Your best bet is a Ding Analysis from an Admissions Consultant.
Oh well -- too much of a hassle at this point to get a ding analysis. I am surprisingly not as upset as I thought I'd be. If my other schools don't pan out, I'll re-apply as ED this summer.

Thank you! That helps a lot, so just wait for the email instead of keep logging in to check it myself.

This might be helpful for the anxious ones out there. My application status didn't have an update until *after* I received a call from the admissions office about my acceptance. In fact, it was a good few hours after the call that the status was updated. So even if you have been accepted, you wouldn't know.

I actually had a gut feeling that something would happen that day and I was checking my application status all morning. There was no change/tell-tale sign of a change.

Dinged without interview. I actually thought I had a decent shot at the school but oh well. I applied December 20th.

Same here.. applied at the same date as well.

Sorry to hear, hopefully your other schools pull through.

I know it will be a bit biased, but how strong was your application? I ask because I am still a bit "shocked" that I didnt get an interview. I thought my overall app was pretty good: good work experience at a brand name firm; good GMAT; good GPA; good recs; very very unique story; clear and feasible goals. On top of that, I had a CBS donor put in a good word for me. I'm guessing that if I had gone ED, I would have at least been invited to an interview....guess ED vs RD makes a huge difference.

Has anyone read anything about how the rate of admittance changes the closer it gets to the April deadline? Do they really continue to take people that late in the year or is most of the class likely filled already?

I'm not on the admissions committee so take this for what it is worth but I think you lost the numbers game. There are literally thousands of investment bankers that apply to business school each year. You GPA and GMAT are both almost exactly average and your work experience will read very similar to lots of other applicants. In the end they can only take so many bankers and consultants each year and it really becomes a crap shoot.

Hmm. Applied 12/19 and no interview invite / ding yet. I wonder if that's a good thing or a bad thing.

On another note, I received an email from admissions asking for a transcript 8 days ago. It seems I must have accidentally uploaded a second copy of my resume instead of my transcript when I applied. I responded with a copy of my transcript inside 20 min. Kudos to them for not just automatically dinging me over a dumb mistake! Very classy, Columbia.

Makes sense, thanks. Lets hope the numbers game works in my favor at INSEAD and Wharton then.
