ah, waitlisted today after interviewing 3/1- had a rather odd, four-hour interview. not sure what to make of that.

not sure which aspect of my app was weak, so a little unsure as to whether i should submit additional materials. possibly an additional recommendation?

Sorry to hear that; when did your interviewer submit feedback?

submitted 3/4

wow, my feedback was submitted on 2/27 and I still haven't heard anything! Should I be worried?[/quote]

You will definitely hear today or tomorrow. Don't worry too much about the length of time though, it took them the full two weeks to give my decision.

Based on responses here, I've noticed notifications in as little as 6 business days (which means that Tuesday might be my day!). That does seem really quick. I wonder what the "new stuff" actually is.

So my interviewer (who was surprisingly knowledgeable about all of this stuff) said that Columbia had a long term dean of admissions who was much beloved, but then she retired, and then they brought in a guy who didn't work out, and so the new dean is someone who had worked underneath the old one that everyone liked. Basically now they are trying to streamline their application process, especially in the face of a double digit increase in applications from last year.

Part of it might just be not having enough admissions counselors to process everything, given the increase in applications, and so needing to figure out how to be most efficient with their manpower.

Also - good luck! I hope that you hear good news, and sooner rather than later!

Hi all - is there any official release saying that CBS recovered from last year's plunge in # of applicants? (which would definitely make sense, given CBS long term reputation)
Cheers

oh, i definitely wouldn't be worried at all! my interviewer had a tight timeline in that he was going out of the country and said he'd have to crunch the timeline together. definitely representative of his personal schedule, and not the applicant. so definitely don't worry about that timeline =)

They didn't say anything about any merit scholarships - does that mean I didn't get any for sure?

Not necessarily. They will continue award fellowships until April if last year was any indication.

waitlisted.... womp womp.

Feedback submitted - 3/4, Waitlisted - 3/12

Waiting on Duke's decision for Monday... if I get the good news this will all be worth it. I went down to Duke for their Women in Business weekend and it's where I can definitely see myself. Still, would be nice to have the ivy league option :-) I still may! fingers crossed.

Female, NY, 2 Years banking and 1 year working in a firm-management type role, took the GRE but my GMAT equivalent was 730, 3.66 GPA (with a strong upward trend) from non-Ivy, and really strong leadership in a couple different areas both in college and after (service, etc)

I also had a very long interview (1.5 hours+) that I thought went TERRIBLY so if anyone is feeling like that, there is hope!

Anyone applying R3? Would I be wasting my time if I did this? I feel like it's pointless but might as well ask and see what everyone thinks or what the general perception is out there....

Probably a waste of time and money -- from what I heard, only people with outstanding circumstances (illness, family emergencies, deployment, etc) should be leveraging R3 at a school the caliber of CBS, and even then, there are very few spots left open. Probably best to wait until August for Early Decision if you really want to go there.
