Dinged. Emailed about 30 mins ago.

Interviewed 2/26 and feedback on 2/27.

This one stings. My other dings I more or less expected, but Columbia was my top choice and I really felt like I was a great fit there. Maybe I ought to wait til class of 2016. Oh well, so it goes. Best of luck to the rest of you.

Sorry to hear that Chains. I saw your question in the Ask Columbia Admissions thread. The schools have to be very ambiguous in how they answer questions about individual people's chances. The reality is the Columbia seems to really like re-applicants. This jives with my personal experience as well as the information I received from friends and talking to admissions consultants when I decided where to apply my second time around. If you like Columbia I encourage you to re-apply and do it ED next time. Yield is important to top schools' rankings so showing a clear dedication to the school definitely helps.

Maybe I'll see you at Georgetown. I just got dinged from Stern, so I believe Columbia will be dinging me soon. Well, good luck with Kellogg!

Accepted! Yay! So pleased. :)

Here's my timeline:

1/9: Applied minutes before the deadline;
2/18: Received interview invitation;
2/26: Interviewed (a very informal and enjoyable 1.5 hour conversation at a coffee shop; the only "interview questions" I was really asked were to walk through my resume, "Why Columbia?," to discuss my future goals (specifically and generally), and to describe a few times when I'd faced "adversity" in my life);
2/27: Feedback submitted; and
3/7: Accepted (via telephone call from "Unknown," followed by an email a few minutes later; I was told that my online status would be updated later today with "next steps").

When is the application cutoff? Could I still apply? The website is not really clear on the final possible submission date?

The site says April. There should be an exact date in the application system.

Happy Friday!

Anyone who went to CBS admit day (or weekend?) who can comment on the experience? Is it a day or couple of days? What events did they have? And anyone know when the next upcoming event is?

Thanks :-)

So just wanted to share a bit about my interview. I interviewed in New York, at the offices of my interviewer. He was incredibly smart, friendly and outgoing, and really seemed interested in getting to know me and to help me understand more about Columbia. At one point we ended up talking about the Big Bang Theory and reality TV, which was fun. He was nice enough not to take notes during that part though

He did have a printout of the standard questions that Columbia asks and was taking notes on the back of it. The ones that he asked specifically that were not just covered in our general conversation about my goals and background were:

-Tell me about a time that you faced adversity (he clarified that this used to be "tell me about a time you faced an ethical question")
-Is Columbia your first choice? Where else did you apply?
-What will you do if you don't get accepted into business school

Overall, I had a great time talking to him about what I wanted to do, my career goals, and his experiences at Columbia. He was very enthusiastic about the school, and overall was a really wonderful ambassador for the program.

Plus he submitted my feedback the same afternoon as I interviewed. I'm glad that I managed to get my thank-you email in before he got his feedback in. :)

Have you heard back?

I actually just interviewed yesterday, so not quite. :)

My interviewer noted that the admissions office was trying out some new stuff this year (might also explain why the interview instructions were different for different people) and might be a bit slow. But that I should hear back in one to two weeks.
