Hello,
I am 1 year away from applying to PT MBA programs, apart from getting familiar with the application process I would like to add to my existing community service experience and connect with professors in my target B Schools.
My questions -
1) For someone with no community service knowledge in the US, what would be your recommendation for the first place to look. I understand that it's more based out of one's interest and I have a few plans in mind such as adopting(not legally) a few kids back in my home country(India) and pay for their tuition and other basic needs. However it might take time to set all this up, in the mean time I would like to start of with whatever I can possibly do here.
2) I would like to reach out to some professors @ Kellogg and Booth. What would be the most appropriate way to go about it? Also would it give me any leverage with respect to my B School apps.
Your response is highly recommended. Also I would be more than happy to read links provided, which discuss the above mentioned points, even partially.

Good to know you are thinking ahead! MBA applications are a rigorous process, and it helps to prepare.
1) Community service participation is based on your interests.
It is another aspect of the MBA application that allows the Admission Committee to assess your soft skills, including leadership, initiative, teamwork, and yes, passion. Hence, it is better to do something you truly like to be able to make a meaningful contribution and speak about it in your essays rather than something for the sake of the MBA application alone.
