WHARTON MBA ESSAY ANALYSIS:

Essay 1: How do you plan to use the Wharton MBA program to help you achieve your future professional goals? You might consider your past experience, short and long-term goals, and resources available at Wharton. (500 words)

This is a standard goals essay prompt that covers every part of the goals essay question asked by business schools. Obviously then, the trick to getting it right is answering every part of the question, and making it all – the past, the present and the future- flow coherently into each other.

Here’s a structure you can follow to address each element of the essay prompt:
1. What are your past experiences that have given direction to your career goals? You may list out 1-2 noteworthy experiences that will help justify how you have arrived at your career goals.

Typically career goals are led by a desire to make some kind of business impact through your professional work, so the past experiences you mention here should help connect with the goals

2. Considering your passion mentioned above, what are your short term goals and your long term goals? What impact do you wish to achieve through them
Remember that the goals are only a vehicle to achieve greater goodness, they are not the end themselves. So, do not end at saying that your goal is to become the CEO of XYZ company. What’s more important is, what will you do as the CEO of company and what difference will you make?

3. What are the skills you already possess for achieving your goals? More importantly, which skills do you lack?

4. Why is the Wharton MBA the best way to achieve these?

5. Which Wharton resources will help you achieve your goals? These can be academic (majors, specific subjects, academic centres, projects), extra-curricular (clubs, seminars) or career related (career treks, career centres)

First required essay: 25 random things about yourself   
The 'Team Fuqua' spirit and community is one of the things that sets the MBA experience apart, and it is a concept that extends beyond the student body to include faculty, staff, and administration.  Please share with us “25 Random Things” about you. The Admissions Committee wants to get to know YOU - beyond the professional and academic achievements listed in your resume and transcript. Share with us important life experiences, your hobbies, achievements, fun facts, or anything that helps us understand what makes you who you are.

Instructions: Present your response in list form, numbered 1 to 25. Some points may be only a few words, while others may be longer.  Your list will be limited to 2 pages (750 words maximum)

  Fuqua prides itself on cultivating a culture of engagement. Our students enjoy a wide range of student-led organizations that provide opportunities for leadership development and personal fulfillment, as well as an outlet for contributing to society. Essay A: What matters most to you, and why? 
For this essay, we would like you to reflect deeply and write from the heart. Once you’ve identified what matters most to you, help us understand why. You might consider, for example, what makes this so important to you? What people, insights, or experiences have shaped your perspectives?

Essay B: Why Stanford? 
Describe your aspirations and how your Stanford GSB experience will help you realize them. If you are applying to both the MBA and MSx programs, use Essay B to address your interest in both programs.
